why no version of RT3 for mac?

I just bought my first mac. I have an old PC w/ a pen2 processor and window 98. I purchased RT3 and thought i had met the requirements for my PC (which I still own) and I can't play it. I'm really fustrated any suggestions?
Yes.

1.) Sell it on Half.com.
2.) Buy a new PC.
3.) Check the requirements *before* buying software next time.

Sell your mac as well. Theres no version because Macs make less then 2% of the global market. It would be a waste of time.

I'm a graphic artist and I still hate macs.

Build your own PC (No it's not that hard, and there's plenty of instructions online), and plus, the price you paid for that mac or a name brand PC, you could have made 2 or 3 custom built PCs assuming that you don't buy the extreme hi-tech latest w/ PCI Express crap.

Step 3: Enjoy RCT3 on a REAL computer.

Please... the OS you prefer is not a matter of religion. We have a Mac in the house, and it's a fabulous little machine.

Porting RCT3 to the Mac would be a laborious process because it's coded against DirectX, Microsoft's "plumbing" between code and hardware. Needless to say, this only exists on Windows.

Claris work was the nearest we got to learning how to use a computer in my school days!

Oh god you guys are funny. I like the comment on the real computer, do you create your own material or do you get it from Paul Thurrott? You should really go on tour with that stuff! *end sarcasm*

Mac bashers and PC bashers go to the same place, heck.

Don't they also sell Windows emulators for Macs allowing you to install Windows XP on your Mac...?

Possible that I am crazy... don't hold me to it.

Well, from what I have heard, Macs are very compliant with a lot of things. My school has Macs with IE and MS Office, and file exchange is much easier. They are also, in my opinion, the best for digital media, whether it is video editing, image storing or digital music. Also, viruses are, for the most part, built to destroy Windows systems, since they are the most widely used, so correct me if Im wrong, but virus occurence with Mac's is low (from what I hear/have experienced)

In response to your complaint, I too would read a little more next time, or, you can just sign the petition

Rctycoon2k- You're right, there is an emulator for Macs to run Windows. For those who want it, simply do a google search. I don't use them so I can't recomend one that is reliable.

The performance of the emulators is not great, even if you have a dual-G5. I wouldn't suggest trying to run a 3D game as CPU intensive as this that way.

Virtual PC is best for non-games since it dosn't use the graphics proc for graphics (like mac does) instead it routes it through the processor, not good. From what I hear, the XBox 2 team is developing on a PowerPC 970x (aka, the G5 in the newer PowerMacs and iMacs) and that they are working on having graphics emulation on the graphics card, and having DirectX on it too so they can ship Virtual PC for XBox so XBox 2 can have backwards compatability with it's earlier Intel based brotheren.

In other news, Doom 3 is comming to Mac early next year. I wouldn't be surprsied if they also port RCT3 too, it seems logical choice.

PS- From what I hear, the orgional RCT works ok on VP on Mac, while RCT2 runs decently. Havn't tried it yet though...

Doom 3 is a much easier port. It's written against OpenGL instead of Direct3D (I believe it uses DirectX for sound and controls, but that's a lot easier to deal with than the entire 3D engine).

I wouldn't get my hopes up, but you never know. They ported The Sims and that was a DirectX game.

If the game is worthy of a port (i.e. it will make them money), MacSoft or Aspyr will do it. Aspyr is working on a port of Sims 2 in addition to Doom 3.

Yes, I wouldn't try to run RCT3 in emulation.

RCT2 runs in VPC7 on my Dual 2.5 G5, though performance is mediocre at best. Note that you have to use a cracked version because the copy protection is incompatible with the emulation; it thinks you're using a copied CD even when you're using an original CD (I have a boxed copy).

RCT1 works just fine mind.

I played RCT 1 completely on my Mac G4 using Virtual PC. I built a huge sandbox park with at least one original version of every coaster and ride type as well as every piece of scenery.

I only got a PC for games when RCT 2 wouldn"t work that way on the current VPC version. I think Mac OSX is superior, but Windows XP is not nearly as bad as most mac users think it is.

While we understand a small marketshare costs us games, there is no shortage of software for actually doing work on our macs and most users would never give them up.

I've had Windows xp installed for a couple of weeks on my Windows box, and I already have a messed up registry! I prefer Mac to Windows, but keep both platforms around because I find both the be useful. I play RCT2 on my Windows machine, and use my iBook for important stuff!

No Limits is available for Mac though, and it can even run on my 700Mhz iBook, with only 16mb vram. That I consider to be amazing!

Plus, I can use my Windows machine as a backup, which I did this past weekend, when I sent my iBook in for service.
