Why Mean Streak? - CoasterBuzz

Why Mean Streak? That's been the same question on my mind ever since I rode it last August...I found it to be very smooth, one of the smoothest woodies I've ridden, believe it or not. Semi-boring, yes, the 2nd half at least. The 1st half wasn't so bad, and I didn't think the first drop trims were THAT bad, people tend to overreact. All in all, a fairly good ride, that's get a VERY bad rap, for no apparent reason.

As the day progresses, and the tempeture rises,the trims become more noticable.They are there to keep the speed checked. Early in the morning the viscosity of the grease is higher than say at 2:00 PM. The thicker the grease,the slower the run.

The only good ride on Mean Streak is the lift, also i don't think that Mean Streak is rough, just slow.

I love Mean Streak!!! I never leave it out of a trip to CP. I mean people that complain that it is slow and everything, compare it to the speed of a non-existing coaster. I think we'd all take Mean Streak.

To me, Mean Streak is a fun ride. Thats all I can say about it. I don't get the nervous feeling I get going on Power Tower. I don't get the slightly nervous feeling I get before riding the other Fearsom 5. Its a fun ride.

The issue with me is, Mean Streak is bumby. I mean, its true. I love the ride more than I hate it and thats why I ride it. The thing is, after riding it, my leg is hurt from the lapbar because my leg is always being forced into it. I know that it has to do with the bumps because the same thing was true last year when Magnum had a problem with its back car of the train and it almost killed my cousin and I.. I can tell when we make the turn into the lift that the ride is bumby. Like I said, I love the ride but for its 10th year birthday party, it should have gotten new trains and a brand new track.

I LOVE Mean Streak. It's a great ride, with a great layout. Sure it could use some more airtime, but oh well.

The first time I rode it was this year, and I was blown away. It was rough, but it's a wooden coaster, it's supposed to be like that.

I think that people just whine too much....

I really like the Mean Streak. I've really growed up with it, it was my first "big" woodie in 1991. I really didn't get to go to many parks when I was younger so this was a step up for me. I remember when Mean Streak opened, I waited 2 hours to ride it, back then, it was a great ride and it always will be a great ride. I do hope they take out or modify the trim brakes at the top, but oh well....it is a good woodie nonetheless.
