Why is Stealth being removed?

I know it is to make way for the new water park, but why Stealth? Why didn't PGA remove a ride that is more than 3 years old and an important ride in coaster history. The worlds first flying coaster to be replaced by possibly PKI's old water slides? Seems kind of stupid IMO.

2003 year of the fallen:
Stealth: 4/1/2000 - 9/1/2003
Hercules: 1989 - 9/1/2003
Beacuse it is a maintainance nightmare?

Will the removal of Stealth cause attendance to drop? Not likely

Will the addition of a waterpark raise attendance? Likely

Besides Stealth was NOT the first flying coaster. That title rightly belongs to Japan's Birdman. Just as Raging Bull was not the first hyper twister. That title goes to Fujiyama.

Because of all the steel coasters at PGA Stealth takes up the most land. Only Grizzly could possibly take up more space, but steel is easier to dismantle than wood. Plus with the flume and rapids rides on that side of the park they'll have easy access to a water supply and water treatment facilities.

It makes absolutely perfect sense to me.

2004 Coaster Calendar now available. Order in advance and save. See S&D Greetings for details.

And none of PKI's old slides will be going to PGA. BB is going to be a world class water park and I think its a great business decision.

Business wise it's a good pick. But what coaster enthusiast wants to go to a kiddy park? :(

Brent, Birdman was not the first flyer, there was one that opened in the UK (I believe)...had "track" (Sky Trak maybe?) in the name.

Also, the title of "hyper-twister" is sooo much more subjective, which is why (IMO) I think SFGAm can easily call it the worlds first.

Besides, it doest twist a lot more anyway lol.

And lastly, if it was such a huge maintenance nightmare (not saying it wasn't...), why are they moving it across the country to another one of their parks? I honestly don't think that was a huge reason in the move.

------------------
You suck big time.

I was asking about the maintainance issues, don't relly know how much of an issue they were.

There was another flyer in England? Stealth is even farther form being the first then I thought.

EDIT: This keyboard is awful

Weren't they going to refurbish Stealth before it landed in another park?

If it was such a maintainance nightmare, why is it being relocated, and not scrapped?

SCREAM with me... in 2003!

needless quotation removed. why the hell would you guote the previous quote?

Amen! The track is warping and the trains are in horrible condition.

A waterpark will not make PGA a "kiddy park," a waterpark actually makes PGA a more teenager friendly park. I know many teenagers who would rather spend the day at a waterpark than a theme park. It makes PGA more of a resort destination, which unfortanetly we will never be, because they won't keep the park open year round.

Additionally, removing some coasters (like Demon, for instance) would not leave a strategic spot for a water park.

Here is a list of all the past, present, and future flyers (except PCW's Flying Coaster, which I guess hasn't been added to RCDB yet). Note that there were two flying coasters before Stealth opened, Skytrak in the UK, and Komet, a kiddie flyer in the UAE, of all places.

Hi all,

"This coaster has been shutdown since an accident in May 2001. As of 5/11/2003 the Birdmen is still closed and planned to reopen in July of 2003. No word if it has or not yet." (roller coaster database)

That's a long time. What happened and why the delay in getting it up and running again? Looks like the flying coaster got off to a very shaky start, what with the first on in the Uk being scrapped, this one closing etc, Stealth being moved etc....

Regards

You must be silly to not think Fujiyama is a twister. :)

Dood, people say Raging Bull is lame, but Fujiyama doesn't look like a party in the park, either.

Since rcdb doesn't have pics of these 2 flyers that were built before Stealth, does anyone know of a link to some pics?
