2002 Coasters,he is rite.Cedar point does have the most and,you can check Guiness records via the internet to confirm it.I have seen this in the guiness book.Gadv is my homepark and i'll be the first to admitt they falsly advertise but, your average person doesn't go looking for this info so,they get away with it.

Theres no reason to fight over which park has the most of these or the better of that, who cares, Cedar Point fans are going to like Cedar Point and say its the best and SFAdv fans are going to like SFADV and say thats the best. Both parks are great just enjoy them

Bruce,
Don't listen to the little maniac who swears great adventure has the most rides. 2002 coasters do you always believe advertising? It is a lie to get you pay the outrageous prices. please list the so called 104 rides please.

For those of you arguing that the cost of living is about the same for NYC/Philly and LA, check out this page ( http://www.mazerecruiters.com/job.htm ). As you can see for yourselves NYC = 199%, Philly = 124.5% and LA = 112% so it would be understandable that GAdv *could* be more expensive for that reason alone.

And Bruce, Guiness has been wrong before. Actually, it's currently wrong as the most recent edition still has Millennium Force as the World's tallest full-circuit coaster. With SFGAdv adding like 3 rides this year, it's possible they've overtaken CP (personally, I neither know nor care).

It is very simple to understand. GrAdv is the largest SF park ,not SFMM. GrAdv does have the most rides in any park in the USA(If they were all operating at the same time ). However most obviously, it is close to both New York and Philadelphia. Most non-enthusiasts in the area do not consider Hershey, Knoebels, Dorney, or any other MAJOR park to be within a reasonable travelling distance. In other words because they can. The price also, I believe, is used to help stop the baby-sitting phenomenon that happens in the area. Anywhere possible parents will drop off kids, who do not belong unattended, so they do not have to be responsible for them. The high admission also makes up for the fact that a lot of these kids have little money, of their own, to spend once inside the park. Therefore they'll get it from the parents as an entrance fee. This does not present a problem for the enthusiast. Most probably visit another SF park during the season. Plan that trip first and purchase your season pass at another SF park, it's cheaper elsewhere and works at GrAdv. They also have an Outlet center to support, and a huge acreage of land that is undeveloped, but still taxed.

SFGAdv is also lying about Nitro being "the most explosive coaster on the planet". I haven't seen it explode once! ;) *** This post was edited by RogerD on 7/31/2001. ***

I'm sure I'm not the only one who was waiting for the surprise annoucement of a launched lift hill, as the opening date approached. Sadly I have not witnessed that explosion yet either.

You are so right there. I live near York PA (40 minutes from Hersheypark, 1hr and 40 minutes from Dorney Park). While I was doing my front seat ride on Talon, my wife was sitting on a bench next to a woman from NJ. When she heard that we were from York PA, she said "oh, I have family out west in your area... just outside of Pittsburgh." To the Philadelphia, NYC and NJ people, places like Hershey and Knoebels are "out west..." "near Pittsburgh". When they think of Hershey and Knoebels, they think 6 hours away, not two.

As so many have said... SFGrAdv charges what they do simply because they can. Its called "business".

I don't like your tone, chris...
People will pay it, but the thing I don't get is there are a lot of people that come there with their welfare check and spend it there, when they should be looking for a job to pay for that. There are some very wealthy towns around GA, Colts Neck, Spring Lake, almost any town on the beach, Rumson...Million Dollar homes all over the place. Obviously there are a lot of weathly people around that can afford this, or the welfare people that don't want a job, but go to GA.

Nitro: The Most Explosive Coaster on the Planet explodes at Six Flags Great Adventure in 2001.
SFNE, $39.99. that is park and waterpark admission. GO TO SFNE!!
sfne guy, while we appreciate your enthusiasm for your home park, you don't need to turn every topic into a plug.

And where did you get this from? Perhaps "104 Rides, Shows, And Attractions", which will include game stands, stages, food, etc.

Great Adventure most certainly does NOT have 104 *rides*. And even if they did, half the time they're not all running.

As for the price, as others have posted, the market will bear it. Imagine how MOBBED Great Adventure would be if the gate price WERE lower.

So, do they just endorse their welfare check over to the park? Does the park cash the welfare check and they buy the tickets with the cash? Or this is Ronald Reagan's mythical Cadillac driving fur coat wearing welfare queen with a new hobby? Sorry to go off topic, but I generally don't pay much attention to how anyone else is paying for their admission and was just curious as to the source of NitroExplode's info...
Okay Slither, it wasnt just me! :)
I'm sitting here like "What?!!?" I guess there must be a currency exchange up at GAdv or something. That park seems awfull far out of the way though heheheheh

couldnt resist. SFGADV. could calm down on the prices. There park is no SFMM.
It helps to buy a season pass, or COUPONS

LOL! I never thought that I would see my town mentiond on these forums. But anyway, GA can charge basically anything and still do good. Even without New York and Philly, GA would still have a huge market between Monmouth-Ocean Counties. In the summer, our shore towns populations go from literally 4,000 - 40,000 people, no joke. And thats in most of the small shore towns which we have plenty of. However, a season pass is reasonible at $74.00 and GA does offer a 3-park ticket for about $60.00 which is good over a 3 day period. SFGAdv. is begining the transformation into a resort-vacation destination. So look in the future for major park expansions. *** This post was edited by DMB17 on 8/2/2001. ***
