why do you like rollercoasters?

Really? why do people like rollercoasters? Is it the airtime, how it clears your mind, the thrill, or is it just another activity? Personally, it's the airtime and the thrill. what about you?

First of all, I like the designs, I love the way a coaster looks, it's like an art for me...the comes the best...I like the airtime, the speed, Vertigo...I like to be thrilled, I like to be scared, but when the ride is over, all results in a relaxing experience...I makes me laugh a lot, makes me fun.

All the same reasons as Mario, I want to design them and I am in love with the looks of certain coasters, they also provide an instant relief from all your problems, even if it is brief.

They take you places nothing else can and they give you a big thrill for a fairly low cost to the GP.

It has to be the design and how it works and just to have this steel or wooden structure built for enjoyment! and just to wacth it is about just as good as riding it.Oh yea and it clears my mind of all the negative aspects i have faced during my life.i think on a rollercoaster or thrillride is the only time where im not thinking about who said this and whos doing that and whats going on around me, makes the world around me utopia.

Well, because they take us to high speeds and extreme heights. Where on an average day we would never do any of those things and live, on coasters, we can do them and we know we're safe. Also, for that short minute or two, you are not thinking of any problems, or worrying about anything. You are just focusing on the ride.

Millennium orce....it has its ups and downs.

Well, our tour guide for a Haunted Pittsburgh tour was talking about how people like to be scared because the rush of chemicals it causes is similar to the mix you get during s-e-x. "That's why 'haunted tours', horror movies, and roller coasters make such good dates..."

Not surprisingly, all my friends looked over at me when the guide mentioned roller coasters :)

I really don't know, Once I rode Batman The Ride at SFOT, I was hooked.

but SFGA2001, you like them because they take us to high speeds and extreme heights....but the question is WHY do people like going high speeds and dropping from extreme heights.

I'm with Mario, I really feel that they are works of art. But a big reason why we love these things so much is because riding a coaster allows you to feel like a fighter pilot, race car driver, and an acrobat at the same time. Really, think about it. Where on earth can you find a mechanical device that makes you feel this way that doesn't cost a fortune to experience?
