Why do you like coasters so much?

Well I love the AIRTIME! Also its the closest thing to flying a fighter jet that I will ever come close too. Also I think of rollercoasters as a stress reliever because while your on a rollercoaster you forget about everything in life.

I like roller coasters because of the feel. Also, I like how everything has to be perfect or the whole coaster fails (brakes, restraints, rails, supports) and I like the sounds, and the looks.

For me, it was simple really. I was always into coasters, more from watching them then riding them, but the day I rode Loch Ness Monster, all that changed. I realized how amazing they were, and how powerful airtime could be. 220 coasters later, and here I am.

Our mixing tracks were stolen! - listen here for what remains...
My first real experience on a coaster was the steel phantom in 1997 or 1998. I was around 11 or 12 and my father force me to get on it. I mean he forced me on it, telling me I better get on it and stop being scared. I got on it with my brother who was 8 or 9 (he wasn't scared of any coaster what so ever) and I was crying. I got on and closed my eyes all the way till the end. When I got off, people were saying did I enjoy it and I was like yeah.

Now, I have to ride anyone that's in distance to me. For me I love the whole package it gives you. The fear, inversions, airtime, height. Every little elements the ride has to offer. 'm glad my father broke me out of that fear of roller coasters. I know he's mad now cause I can't stop talking about them now.

I'll have to agree with Touchdown, airtime is what turned me into a coaster addict. I always loved that feeling you get during a freefall, so I just found the nearest outlet to satisfy my craving for it, and then I became hooked to everything that coasters had to offer.
I like the speed. My first coaster was Viper at SFAW. I'd never ridden a coaster, much less one without a loop. The ride looked smooth and not exactly huge, so I went on it. I was blown away as I underestimated the speed and soaring through the loop, being knocked around on the turns. I was hooked.

You're here because you love coasters. Face it - you love the thrill of the ride, the speed, and the fear. You love the roar of the train as it flies overhead. You love the sight of these behemoths towering above you. You love the anxious feeling in your stomach as you reach the end of the queue and realize that you're next. You love the adrenaline rush that controls you as you exit. You hurry back to the front of the line to do it all over again. You love roller coasters!

I think that sums it up :)

Not sure why I fell in love with 'em initially...my 1st coaster was River King Mine Train (now Big Bad John and sorely missed at SFStL by yours truely) when I was 6, quickly followed by Screamin' Eagle. I started drawing layouts for coasters as soon as I rode one.

And I think I'm wierd here because out of the major things, riding them isn't close to the top of my list of favorite things...let's say number 5. But ironically I love imagining what riding certain coasters is like, almost studying it in slow motion....I actually do do this with my Cool Coasters set (yes I need a life). I love seeing them and watching them; and I have always enjoyed learning about coaster's past, present, and future. I can't get enough of the good picture books and websites out there, and if my laptop had a better video/graphics card I would get No-Limits, and between it, RCT2, and Cool Coasters I could easily cease to function in normal society all together.

What you think I like coasters? I love them. Most likely due to the rush I get riding them.

If at first don't succeed, find out if the loser gets anything.

I like coasters because they give me a chance to forget about the troubles in the world and just have fun, if only for a minute.
Giving my age away, but for me it was The Thriller at Euclid Beach, first coaster ever at age 6. Back then they weren't so strict with height restrictions. I was afraid of heights, wouldn't go on anything that went up in the air. My grandfather tried everything to get me on the flying scooters, No Way, so he tricked me, told me a coaster was just like a train, it ran on tracks, so I went along with it and he gets me on The Thriller, back in those days, that was High!! Cried all the way up the hill, but once we started down, I was hooked, still am to this day.

Going up that hill, I thought I would hate him forever, but when the ride was over all I wanted to do was go on again. To this day, everytime I ride a coaster I think of him. He told my dad, "I knew she would like it, it's in our family blood." My dad, was afraid my mom would get mad at him if he tricked me that way, but grandpa could get away with anything. And it is in our blood, my dad is in his 70's and still gets on a coaster whenever he can.

Miss coastergames.net? Here is a good site.

Its weird cause I just got into being coaster Crazy like 3 years ago so I guess Iam just starting out but I rode my first coaster Whizzer at SFGAm when I was like five also I think I went on rolling thunder.I got into likeing coasters when RCT came out acouple years ago. I used to be very scared but now I cant get enough. This year my track record will inprove greatly right now I have like 30 coasters on it(which is sad) but by the end of this year I hope to have over 60.Now when ever I take a trip there has to be some coaster desination that Iam going too. I hate this though my best friend she has more coasters on her track record than me but shes rich and travels alot and has family all over the country. But I have rode the same coasters over and over so like all the coasters I have ridden I have rode almost each one over 40 times in the last year.

You know, that gets a ton of reactions at the parks. You'll see just about everyone around you in line reading it, many ask about the site, or if what your favorite coaster is, etc.
