why do some Boomerangs have different trains?

it seems some have sleeker, more modern-looking trains. why?
The time they were built, Vekoma probably made changes. Maybe the park also had a catalog to look at and picked them out.

No, that's incorrect. The older Boomerang coasters ran with Arrow Dynamics rolling stock and the newer 1998+ installations ran with Vekoma's very own rolling stock.
I know one reason is... when Vekoma was making these (in the beginning) they did not manufacturer their own trains, Arrow manufactured their trains for them.  This is reason for why some boomerangs are made VekomaArrow....well at least I know this is the case for The Bat at PCW.
Really? Was Vekoma a spinoff of Arrow?

No, Vekoma was not a spin-off, then they would have been an American company. Vekoma started before Arrow, but got into the coaster business after Arrow.

Maybe that explains why so many boomerangs are so rough.I havn't ridden one yet I've only ridden the invertigo at SFA which is rather smooth in my opinion.
thanks guys

Wow! Boomerangs are so common and rarely have much of a line. Hard to believe any enthusiast hasnt ridden a boomerang.

Depends on the kind of parks you go to.  I've been to, lessee... almost a dozen parks and have ridden 76 coasters, only one of those parks has a boomerang.

You can't spell "dishonorable" without "honorable."
Well, SFWoA's wasn't open the three times I went. I  actually want to ride it.

SFWOA's Mind Eraser opened in '96 right? It uses a Vekoma train, though it is more of an angular version of an Arrow. I'm not sure, but aren't those newer sleek trains (like on the one at Darien) similar to the Arrows on Drachen Fire and Canyon Blaster? Hmmm...

Model coasters and rides
Batwing:

Boomerangs can be a bit of a head banger, but usually aren't nearly as bad as SLCs.  This may in part be due to the shortness of the ride.  They are less intense and not as smooth as invertigos.  Next time you are out on the eastern shore try the one at Trimpers in OC or at Hershey if you get up to PA.

I would like to ride a boomerang with the vekoma trains.

My biggest complaint about the (regular) boomerangs is the lack of surprise or variation from ride to ride.

Take Knotts for example.  It took me several times before I figured out ghostrider's layout, much less felt like I knew what was coming.

One ride on boomerang, and its all figured out.

In the past, Vekoma didn't use Arrow trains and track, exactly.  When Ron Toomer spoke at Coastermania a few years ago he explained that Vekoma used Arrow's track and train design under license.  Isn't that how he put it?

The newer Vekoma trains have made the ride a little better.  I still ride a boomerang once and pretty much never ride it again (I'm just not a fan, especially when a park also has a woodie!)  I hope this thread doesn't turn into a heated argumemt over if they are good or bad!  (Me, I don't care for them.  If you like them, good for you!)
