now hearing of coastergen i get mad cause mac cant have a good coaster game i hate this i have 3 mac's amd i dont want to have to buy a pc just to play a really hot coaster game im so mad the only coaster games we have are really stupid. I had no other alternative but to get vurtual pc wich at up all my memory and sucked then i got sim theme park for mac what a waist of money now im going to have to get a pc just to play these games. i wish they could really make a mac version some how.

p.s and if there are any good coaster games tell me please =-).

Macs are not gaming platforms. Keep your Mac for whatever you use it for, but either build yourself a PC, or pay someone to build one for you. Macs suck for gaming, plain and simple. There really is no way around it unless you are willing to play from the very limited selections of games for it.

The only reason they suck for gaming is because no one is writing software for it. Hardware wise there's nothing wrong with the machines. The problem lies in the fact that Mac's account for 5% of the market, and of that portion, I assume there are so many gamers. Bottom line is that you're not going to sell a lot to that size of a group.

what game makers should do is make a mac version of there games but have it where can by it online so they dont have to make a great amount of it and put it in stores.

Can't yu just run a windows emulator? A friend of mine uses PC software on his Mac this way.

It really does suck though. I would've had a Mac a long time ago if it were better supported by game makers.

I think that's what he said, though I'm probably wrong. I don't know anything about Macs (outside of DV editing) and I don't want to know anything more. :)

I thought that Macs were going to start compliance with Windows-platform games when they did the PowerPC line... Guess that's changed.

The greatest part of the expense of making a game is not in the box or CD. It is the development of the game that cost a small fortune. Unfortunately, translating a game to Mac means a lot more development and therefore a lot more expense. The lousy 5% of the market that use Macs don't usually justify the expense of translating a game to Mac.

Running a game in a Windows emulator does not work well. Emulation slows down the processing considerably, and reduces the machine to about a quarter of it's speed running Mac software. Gaming is one of the advantages of owning a PC. It's something that you need to consider when deciding which platform to purchase.

Some games have been ported to Mac, but only those that were easy to port because of the standards they used (C++, OpenGL, etc.). That's why you see things like Quake on the Mac.
