My pic is of me with my 1997 model B&M Inverted which I built from scratch for my final school project. I'm kneeling behind the Vertical Loop with the lifthill behind me. Yes! In Aussie we have to wear school uniforms, hence my tie.
It didn't work as I used the wrong kind of plastic tubing for the track. It's all packed up in the shed now. Will re-track and finish it one day. My other subjects were so demanding only had time to complete the first loop. The one parts supplier couldn't believe his eyes and said it should've been an uni project as so much work involved!! How right he was.
Track is black, supports to be painted orange. Name is 'Taipan' - after Aussie's most venomous snake - black with orange belly.
Stats: (Model & Real)
1/24 scale.
Base is L-Shaped with lift running on edge of long arm as in pic. Arms are 4ft wide - 16X10ft.
Station is near corner of L-shape running parallel with lift. 180 turn to left and then up lift.
Height - 8ft/2.4m (192ft)
Track gauge - 2 inches/50mm (4ft)
Track Length - approx. 150ft/45m (3600ft/1100m)
7'10"/2.35m (188ft) Montu-style drop to the left.
Eight inversions as ordered below:
1) 5.5ft/1.65m Vertical Loop (132ft, would be more like 165ft in real life)
2) 5ft/1.5m Left-hand Dive Loop. (120ft)
3) 4ft/1.2m Incline Loop (96ft)(Leaning left at 60 degrees)
4&5) 3ft/0.9m Cobra Roll (72ft)
6) 2ft/0.6m Zero-G Roll (48ft) through Incline Loop to inbetween Loop & D.Loop
7) 1.5ft/0.45m Left-hand Flat Spin (36ft)
8) 1ft/0.3m Right-hand Flat Spin (24ft) interlocked with inversion above.
Then straight into station. No mid-course brakes.
Train: 7 rows of four across. Each car follows the one in front of it via a ball-link which allows movement in any direction. Exception is front two cars are fixed via axis in-line with track (Not shown in pic). Real-life B&Ms have this feature. Mine should be approved soon. Anyone will tell you, I look a lot better in person than in any picture that you'll ever see of me. I don't think I've ever taken a picture that I've actually been proud of. Anyway mine is in Louie's, the bar in Sandusky that CP employees often frequent, and my boyfriend (member rOLLocOASt) is standing next to me but you can't see him because I had to crop it so it would fit. And it was taken by Red Garter Rob from GTTP, don't know if he's a member here or not. So it's sorta coaster-related. Oh, and I had a bit to drink too, but NOT REALLY because as you can see by my date of birth I'm only 20. ;)
