Latest weather forecast for northeast PA is for rain, heavy at times, beginning Friday around noon and lasting through Saturday afternoon. :( Some forecasters are calling for as much as 3-4 inches of rain in "localized areas" and some potential flooding of small streams.

Supposed to be the most rain we've had since the beginning of April. Figures.

Temps are supposed to be much warmer than normal Friday but getting quite chilly and windy once the front passes through Saturday evening.

Not so sa-weet. :(
Oh well. As long as Knoebels can keep the rides open, I will be riding them--rain or lots of rain.

^Nothing can possibly be more painful than riding SOB in pouring rain and MForce in a sudden hailstorm!

Man, all of the hotels in the area are apparently booked as well. Looks like we will be having a wet tent evening tonight. Sigh.

Say it with me. Rain rain go away...

The weather forecast for PPP is usually crappy and while it has been known to rain, the actual weather is almost always somewhat better than the predicted weather.

Getting back to the original question, I have a feeling that Jim Martini has a lot to do with the event. He's the one that speaks at the Phoenix Junction Steakhouse after the rides shut down and you can usually catch him driving around on a golf cart during the event, checking on things and answering radio calls.

Moosh:

Will you have calendars for sale at PPP this year? My wife just has to have one since her first one!

Now that I've been educated, I've done my research and decided to join the party. Which section of the campground are y'all camping at?

I'll be there, with the essentials:

  • beer
  • tent
  • sleeping bag
  • car (green Civic Si with Ontario plates)
  • pizza money
  • crappy costume (not much is warm and border-crossing friendly. Maybe I'll just wear a hockey jersey and go as a happy Canadian.)
  • strong desire to ride Phoenix untill my a$$ is numb!

Sounds like a good long weekend plan, eh?

Our campground is near the Twister. I just called to see if there were any cabins left and there was only a double. :(

sounds like a great plan for the weekend... I'll be there also with some of the needed supplies.

Beer (yeungling and coors light)
Food (hot dogs and hamburgers probably) but may not be able to get a fire going due to rain
Camper - (red Toyota Tacoma pulling it, probably my blue Hyundai Tiburon also on site)
Money (for food and a Calendar, if Moosh has them)
No Costume
Need for PHLYGHT on the Phoenix.
Urge to do the Twist on Twister.
a few spins on Fandango and the Looper are also needed.

Hockey jerseys are not a Canada only thing... You are heading to an area near a Hockey Crazed City. BACK WHERE THEY BELONG... and that includes Forsberg back where he belongs. To find me saturday look for the Black Philly Flyers jersey with a 3 and McGillis on the back. Yes I know he was traded but hey I spent too much on that shirt ;) *** Edited 10/7/2005 6:31:36 PM UTC by dragonoffrost***

I will be gimping around to say hi to everyone at campsites again this year - once again I'm staying at camp EVV Dave. I'll have a bottle of Jager(on ice) and a bunch of beer to share this year, so please help me finish it.

Sadly, my costume idea looks like it might not work out as I didn't win the bid on the mask for it and there's only a couple in exsistence. I guess there's always next year.

The good news is, I started limping today without my crutches! I'm bringing them just in case it starts to hurt more but, I think I'll be okay.

Hope everybody who's coming up/out/down/over, whatever has a safe and uneventful trip. 3.8 inches of rain in the RGB gauge and counting, and now they're saying the front is going to stall out over PA, with another 2-4 inches possible--WTF?

Nice that we're getting the rain we hadn't gotten all summer long, but all in one weekend? and this weekend yet? Damn you, bad stupid front!

Think I'm going to hoist a few Yuengs tonight and hope for the best for tomorrow.

Is there a back way out of the campground? It sounds like Roaring Creek might be on the rise, and my Civic doesn't swim.
Roaring Creek IS the back way out of the campground. :)
