Who likes bobsleds?

I have been on one of those. It is a great ride. It is located in the Park Mammoth/ Mammoth Cave area in Kentucky. The only difference is that the shoots are concrete, not steel, and they make you sign a wavor saying you wont sue them if you get hurt. It is real fun.

Are you talking about Alpine Slides? Love those!

I remember riding Disaster Transport during one of it's first years and being scared of it. I was sure the shuttle was going to fly right out of the trough.

I like bobsleds, if for no other reason then variety. It is nice to experience a blend of different styles. What a boring place if all we had was steel multi-loopers or medium-sized wooden out and backs?

everything's better with a banjo
Final score: Avalanche Run at PKD 1, Disaster Transport at CP 0. AR was longer and faster, although theming of DT was better - the ride was just too short. Are there any bobsleds in the US with a long track length, I think 2500' would be great as they don't lose speed too quickly for that much track. Although, after looking at the Alpine Slides (never riddenone), I think a park with some terrain could get a couple of those. It is unlikely, however, due to low capacity.

I say thumbs down to Bobsleds, other than the fact that most look nice. I can see a launched Bobsled in the future...that would supply speed and a realistic effect on the banked curves/turns.
I say you all need to come out to Park City, UT and ride a real bobsled at the winter sports park. For $25 they put you in this cart called a sled rocket and send you down the real bobsled track that will be used in the 2002 Winter Olympics! Now that's a rush!
Bobsleds are cool, however, I have never ridden an extremely exciting one. I think that bobsleds should be more like water slides with big drops and tight turns that create the illusion of falling out of the trough thingy!! In other words, a dry, intense, and the "we're going to die" feeling version of a water slide!!
Well, I *saw* Avalanche at PKD, but I only had 2 hours left in the day so I rode FOF instead :)

I liked Disaster Transport a lot, although at the time I rode it I was about 11 and didn't know anything about coasters, so I didn't know it was a bobsled coaster. Maybe if I ride it again, i mean *WHEN* i ride it again, i'll take this into consideration when riding :)
Whee...A Giga, Stand-Up, Bobsled! LOL :)

Maybe they should make bobsleds with inversions. Like an inline twist--oh.... wait.... nevermind. ;)

Actually, they co-existed for one year, I believe. I also recall hearing that Rolling Thunder was at some park in New England and renamed, but I can't remember which park in New England.
Rolling Thunder Is NOW ALPINE BOBSLED AT GREAT ESCAPE!
I like bobsled rides, too. I've been on very few of them, so they are still a novelty to me.

They have a bobsled ride at Silver Dollar City that is quite fun. It uses 3-person foam boats and just a slight bit of water in the course. When you put three adults in the boat it becomes quite fast.

My mother told me about the bobsled rides she used to go on back in the 50's at The Highlands in St. Louis. She said they ended in a water splashdown at the end. I'd like to see them do that again.

I think they are a lot of fun, but unfortuantely, they went the way of the suspended....Maybe both will make a comeback?

I agree. And those cars are really uncomfortable!
