Who built the Hurler?

Both Coasterbuzz and RCDB state that the Hurler twins were built by International Coasters, Inc (ICI, for short).

Does anyone know any details?  Such as, did ICI both design AND build the rides?

Have they built anything else?

Do they have a website?

Just curious... I had heard from a ?reputable? source that PKD's was a CCI product (though no mention of it exists on CCI's website) and that Carowinds' was built by ???  Further, that when the two debuted, PKD's was considered the superior of the two with respect to its tracking and transitions.  Can anyone offer any info?

According to GTR2000, they were designed by Steve Schaeffer, built by ICI.  I believe they were ICI's version of an earlier coaster.  When I get home (and get to my GTR) I will probably have more...until then, anyone else have anything to add?

This may seem asinine, but Hurler at Carowinds doesn't feel like anything close to Mega Zeph (CCI).  I know how dumb that sounds, but Hurler feels like a poorly designed ride.  Everyone I've talked to that rides/loves CCI says that although CCI's are rough, it's a different kind of rough.  In other words, you hit the station and instead of thinking "Owww, I need a break", you think "I'm getting right back in line!!"

I do not enjoy Hurler.  It's not fun to ride, usually once a day is more than enough for me.

I rode "X" and never went upside down.

Homey G, Hurler is an ICI product, not CCI.  Different company...

I have no clue but I lovd the hurler at PKD
I'm pretty sure that they were built by Summers & Dinn...

BOTH were built by ICI and modeled as semi-mirror-image clones of Thunder Run at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom.  I find the Carowinds version to run better than the PKD version myself.  I think the Hurler at Carowinds is a great woodie and it has some awesome airtime near the front.

Good work StarCoasters, I was pretty sure they were modeled after SOME earlier ride, and you HIT it...TR!  I haven't ridden either in the past two years, so I don't feel qualified to say how they're running now...

Yes the Carowinds version is better than the PKD version but they both are pretty lame IMO. I used to think the same of Thunder Run, but after riding it this year I have to rescind that statement. It is smooth and air filled. I only wish the PKD Hurler ran like TR!

I thought that the PKD version was better.  I first went on PC's version, and it was great!  I went to PKD the next year, rode theirs, had MAJOR airtime everywhere, and loved it.  Then, I went back to PC, and the Hurler at PC seemed to be very rough and slow.  Maybe I caught it on a bad day the second time around, but I thought that PKD's was the best after my second encounter with PC's Hurler.

I have olnly ridden the PKD hurler but I enjoed it, I rode near the center and thoughts it was pretty smooth and plenty fo air time and my companisions with me as well thought so.
Definately enjoyed the Carowinds one much more. The one at PKD ran real rough and tight while we were there. Once was enough.
