I've heard that the Whizzer (SFGAm) was designed to run 5 trains. I've only seen 3 running on it, and I never recall seeing any on side tracks or anything. Did it ever run 5 and was it really designed for 5? I just find the track to be very short to run 5 trains.

Yes, it did run 5 trains way back when it first opened. If you notice when you come into the brakes for the station, how long the track and platform is. It is capable but I dont think they want to deal with it.
Oh. I guess your right. That setup is not very practical. Usually wouldn't you want one train on each block, so on a 3 block track (I think the Whizzer is, unless the brake run is multiple blocks.) you'd want 3 trains. Thats strange that they had 5. I'd get bored waiting to get off the train. I want off it as soon as I'm on the brake run so I can get back in line! (unless, of course, it's a reride without getting off.)

Lets see....
The station consisted of 3. The lift was 1. The first drop was 1. The second drop was 1. The third drop was 1. The fourth drop and helix was 1.
8 blocks total I think.

Seriously there are that many? Blocks have brakes separating them, and I do not recall that many brakes on the ride! Are you sure about that janfredrick?

TrBiggar, your right.
A block is a zone where it can be controlled at one point during the block. I can think of the station, lift, small block breaks, and the final break fun (which can be more than one block) I wonder how hard it was to keep those trains moving all day long. There's a lot of them.

Deja Vu, and V2, what more can you want? SFGAm #1

Sorry about the delay in response....long story.
But the Whizzer had block brakes at every "high point" during the ride. With the exception of the latter 2 station blocks and lift block, we maintained a 1 block space between the trains. So with 2 trains in the station, a train on the lift, it would be no problem to have two trains out on the course with a block separating them.
