Just to inform some of you who said it closed in 2004, not true I went for the 2005 season. Though it does need some serious work, It's an awesome park. THOUGHTS ON WWU??

I have no idea what you are talking about. Can you explain?

For starters, this post is what he is referencing.

I think I would tend to believe the guy who lives less than a mile from the place and also has a linked news story to prove it other than just a simple "I wuz their!!!1!!1!"

Also, the news article is linked in his post.

I live here in pleasant Hill. I would have noticed if they had opened it this last summer. The park closed after 2004. *** Edited 11/21/2005 1:57:07 PM UTC by davidbush***

I can confirm that the go-karts and mini-golf were open this fall (2005) on the day I happened to visit at least. I can't speak for the waterpark though. I live in Des Moines, about 20 minutes from the park. *** Edited 11/21/2005 8:07:39 PM UTC by Acoustic Viscosity***

Well then you are very uninformed, poor you.

I swear I went to WWU THIS SUMMER

so are you calling the DM Register a liar too then, it doesn't matter to me but I am still pondering how that could be, I think I will ask Pinky and the Brain.

Brain: Pinky are you pondering what I am pondering

Pinky: I think so Brain but why do we have to wear these pink tutu's. *** Edited 11/22/2005 6:19:07 PM UTC by crazyforcoasters***

Let's shoot us some deer Joe Joe!!!!

I live on the other side of town but grew up in Pleasant Hill and visit frequently. Yes, in 2003 it was reported that the waterpark was closing and wouldn't open in 2004. However, that was later changed and the park was open on a smaller schedule and more selective about weather conditions. I went multiple times, just in case they closed for good. I was told by friends in Pleasant Hill that it did open in 05 but even more of a limited schedule than 04. However I cannot confirm this because I didn't go this past season. *** Edited 11/22/2005 5:57:54 PM UTC by SnakeEyes***
I would concede that there is a possibility that it was open in July for four weeks at the most. I do not drive by it everyday. I know it was not open in June nor in late August. I am certain of that. The place is run down I do not see anyway they could have operated this last summer. *** Edited 11/23/2005 1:45:26 AM UTC by davidbush***
It was only opened about 2months this summer but I SWEAR IT WAS OPENED!!

Lol I remember Pinky and the Brain. Oh and I'm not calling the Des Moines Register a lier you moron. I'm saying they were given incorrect info.

The article was correct when published.

They probably just decided "Hey Why not open for a lil while"

It was open this summer, but remember summers in Iowa are NEVER that hot. Drove by it Saturday on the way to Jordan Creek Mall and it looked like it could easily open back up next season.

Iowa summers can get plenty hot. It's been a little on the mild side in recent years, but 90 to 100-degree summer days are not uncommon in July and August around here. Plus, the humidity is awful. The city pools/aquatic centers seem to do just fine as long as the weather cooperates.

Key words there, and it has not the past two summers.

It was plenty hot in Iowa this past July. Certainly hot enough for a water park.
I'm not saying that it wasn't hot, I'm saying that it wasn't hot enough -- as in number of days in a row. Also with the city pools becoming more extravagent, why trek all the way down to WWU?

I will agree that July was hot, but May and June were rather mild, and since football and band and what not starts up early August, that is a rather "no-month" with regards to attendance.

Maybe Iowans need to revise their screwy school schedules so summer vacation actually coincides with the summer months! ;)
^It is the same in most states -- not just Iowa.
