Whirlwind is half the coaster it used to be

I just got back from Knoebels taking pics of the deconstruction of Whirlwind. About half maybe a little more is still up. Their are about 7 or 8 track sections waiting in the Phoenix parking lot for shipment.

Here's A Link to the pics I took.

I didn't venture anywhere else in the park so I can't report on anything else.

Thanks Dan....:)

Who'd have thought I'd be sad to see a Vekoma leaving? ;) Just seems like a part of the KG experience was watching the n00bs get their credit lap, and come off wondering if the lap was WORTH the credit...:)

Whirlwind: half the coaster it used to be.
Gator: half the man he used to be.

Who'd a thunk they'd have something in common? ;)

Oh I believe in yesterday....;)
There's a shadow hanging over him.
Why she had to go, I don't know, she wouldn't say...

Thanks for the pics, Dan. I have to admit I'm strangely sad to see the ride leave, as well. Hopefully something GOOD replaces it.

"You seem healthy. So much for voodoo."

I was sad too, I shed a tear as I took the pics. No wait that was from a piece of dirt in my eye! :)

I'm guessing I have ridden the Whirlwind less than 50 times since it came to Knoebels. To me it was one of those rides I would go on if a person I was with never rode it and wanted to. Other than that I would ride it once opening day, then maybe once or twice durring the season.

I think the sidewinder will be something good. I love the few rides like it that I have found but they all have you facing in the circle of seats facing outward might be a little more insane to me.

Watch the tram car please....

Aww... it's too bad that Whirlwind had to go. Nothing like taking a first-timer on the ride and hear scream a "WHAT THE ****?" at the top of the lift.

^^I missed the joke. Your number of arrows missed the post you were referring to unless the depth of RatherGoodBear's six words warranted a few dozen in translation. The grammar isn't perfection, but I got the point without teeheeheeing or freaking out.

Too bad the only way to make it half as crappy was to remove half the ride!

I can relate to that.

Here is one place where I am glad I keep a "track record" spreadsheet.

Looking at my entries for Knoebels, I see the following numbers from 1999-2004

Visits to Knoebels: 5

Phoenix Rides: 31

Twister Rides: 25

Whirlwind Rides: 3

Actually Danny the number of arrows in my post wasn't meant to represent how many posts to count up, I was referring to the one right above it. I'm usually not one to complain about stuff like this, but the post sounded like a 6 year old wrote it, in fact, my 6 year old sister could write a better paragraph than that post. If people are going to share their opinions with us, they can at least make them coherent.
Yes well, let's all be nice and civil in our corrections of others' mistakes in grammar and spelling. No need for anyone to be "in your face" about it. Think how you might feel if someone responded to one of your posts with a putdown.

Do unto others, and all that stuff...

Too bad this is too long to use for my signature, because I'd like to post this in more than a few threads.

^^I'm with plus-size Danny on this one. RGB's referenced post was easy to figure out. I bet a 6 year old could've understood it.:)

But, hey, it's good to know that at least few young folk aspire to be English teachers...

Put the hookah down, Bill (and pass it over here).;)

LOL I wasn't correcting RGB, sorry if you thought that RGB. I was correcting dragonoffrost.... however... I have edited the offensive post as to not cause anymore trouble :) Was trying to be light-hearted and helpful, the post was obviously taken wrong. Sorry, and Happy Holidays!

It's ok. Whenever I piss someone off and know someone may take something the wrong way, I usually PM them and make up or tell them they should take it as a joke when they read it. ;)
