Assuming i could only visit one park this year, should it be:
Kennywood,
King's Dominion,
Carowinds,
or BG williamsburg?

well I've never been to KW or BGW but I would pick Carowinds over PKD. I thought that Thunder Road was better than Rebel Yell (more air, less dead time). The PC version of Hurler also seemed to have more intensity. Top Gun is my current favorite Inverted, but when I went to PKD in '98 Volcano had yet to open. Vortex (B&M) and Shockwave (TOGO) are about the same to me. Anaconda gets a *slight* advantage over the Carolina Cyclone. OL:FOF, great launch, bring advil. The Scooby Doo coasters are the same. I dont remember anything special about Grizly (PKD) other than it being buried in the forest. Avalance whas the best bobsled I have ridden due to the roomy in-line seating. Also, I didnt get on the Nickeloden FSS (PC) but it looks like a great way to cool of in the summer. Hope that helped some, if not holla back and I'll give more detail.
lata,
the hostyl one
Id go withBG williamsburg. They have i think 6 coasters that are all A+ rides.!!! Big bad wolf is arguably the best suspended out there and the videos of it look really awesome with its themeing. Alpengeist arguable the best invert. Apollos Chariot one of the best hypers out there. also there is a quality arrow looper and wild mouse. too bad drackens fire is closed ;( !!!
anyone know y?
its also the cleanest park in the states!!!andthe landscape is beautiful
Big Bad Wolf rules too. But since it is The Steel Phantom's last year, I would pick Kennywood. Unless you have already been there. Then BGW.
Think about it Raptor Munkey. What park is getting rid of one of the top rated steel coasters at the end of the season? All the other parks coasters will be there next summer plus they could be adding new ones as well. The Steel Phantom is going to be gone forever after this season! I'd say go to Kennywood this year and experience the Phantom before it's gone for forever. I'm sure it will be known as one of the great coasters like the Crystal Beach Cyclone, Mr Twister, Aeroplane, and Drachen Fire. Ride it while you have the chance.

steel phantom aint all it is cracked up to be! the only thing that is cracked up is you after the ride. Its cool i guessto experince goingthrough an inversion at 65 mph though
I know BGW is a great park all 4 coasters are great rides excluding the Mouse. I'm just sugesting since it is the last season for the Phantom it would be best to get at least one ride. I'd go to CP if it was the final season for Blue Streak. That way I can say I was on that coaster before it is only a memory. Once its gone you can't go back and ride only wish you did when it was open. Even if it isn't that great of a ride at least you know you got to ride it.
I'm looking on my personal experiance. I was to Rocky Glen Park in Moosic, Pa a year before it closed forever. I never rode their wood coaster Mighty Lightning since I was scared to go on fearing a loop in the woods (not knowing a loop on a woodie wouldn't happen for another 13 years). Now that coaster is a pile of track and mangled wood. Every time I think of it I wish I would have ridden the Mighty Lightning.

I have been to all of these except Carowinds.
If you have never been... I'd have to say Kennywood. As mentioned before, it is the last season for the Steel Phantom. Ride it while you can. Even if it is not the best around... it is still a unique coaster. Besides, I think you will enjoy all of the other cool old stuff they have.
My second choice would be BGW. Busch Gardens has my tied for 2nd place inverted coaster - Alpengeist.
Kennywood has some of the most different rides that I've ever seen too. They have or (had, i'm not sure if it's still there) this big Noah's Ark, and it's sort of a fun house, it's pretty neat, and really old. They also have(had) this sort of tunnel of love ride which goes through this dark area for the whole ride, and travels through themes. Kennywood does a great job of mixing old and new together. Just a note :)

Long Live Cedar Fair
BGW is wonderfuly themed(if your in to that). Lochness Monster is great as well as alpengiest, and Big Bad Wolf(the best suspended in the world) and apollo's chariot----
----UNLESS you really like roller coasters that bust up your head and cause severe hedachs and ruin your day----
----go for the steel phantom

I will leave for the point 7:30:00AM June 20, 2000
is there any possibility of kennywood selling the SP to another park???
i would be suprised if such a classic got totally demolished
I think either KennyWood or BGW. If you have already ridden Steel Phantom recently or have no desire to go to BGW.If not head for Kennywood. I have not been to Carowinds, but PKD is not that great. I do know that Vortex is about 100 times better than Shockwave.
Ron G I don't know if any parks are buying the Phantom or not. Due to its design (on the side of a ravine) it would be tough for a park to relocate unless the park has an area close to that of Kennywood. Although the park could reprofile the big drop and make it fit their area. It wouldn't have the same effect but at least it would be running. Another cool idea to me would be to put most of the second drop in a tunnel underground I think it would be one of the greatest tunnels in coaster history. Continuing down the drop in the tunnel, making the banked turn to the left and climbing out of the tunnel just before the loop! WOW! I'm sure it would cost a fortune to excavate the area, build the tunnel, and back fill it. A cool idea to keep the Phantom intact.

In order to raise the whole ride up the station, lift and first drop would need to be aproximately 65 feet off the ground not to mention the Loop, boomerang and corkscrew as well. i think that would cost more than reprofiling or building a new coaster. the cheapest way to go would be to reprofile the big drop.

B&MAaron:
How can you say Vortex is better than shockwave if you've never been to Carowinds (and thus could not have possibly ridden Vortex). I surely hope that you are not basing this comparison soley on the fact that Vortex is a B&M stand-up and Shockwave is a TOGO stand-up. After riding on both I must say IMHO they blow equally.
toodles
the hostyl one
I actually can make that comparison because Shockwave is horrible and I have heard many good reviews about the Vortex and I beleive that It was said by Claude a couple years ago that it was the greatest B&M yet.
I would pick Kennywood since it is the Phantoms Last year. Also I would wait for The Paramounts Until next year chances are you will see a stealth at one of these two parks. And BGW will probably either have a new coaster or they will reopen DF So Kennywood would probably be your best bet to not miss out on a one of a kind coaster that is being demolished.

#1 Steel-Incredible Hulk
#1 Wood--Timber Wolf
Carowinds is a good park, I went to Kings dominion last week, We planned on staying the whole weekend, We left after the first day and elected to drive 350 miles to Carowinds we are located ion Raleigh NC and it is 175 miles to Carowinds and 175 miles to Kings Dominion, I will never go to Kings Dominion again (unless they get the ultimate Coaster or somthing) Carowinds is the best in this area of the world, Top Gun is a MUST Fast, Smooth, Inverted...... One of my favorites, I will be going to PKI in July.... I hope It is all I expect it to be..... It will cost some cash for plane tickets.....
Swordfish: While I enjoyed Carowinds much more than PKD (BTW: V:TBC was not running) why would you say you would never go back to PKD? It didnt seem to be a *bad* park. Just not as good as I thought it would be. P.S. Top Gun is my favorite inverted and #3 steel (behind Raging Bull and Magnum)
