Which park for 03???

My family and I go on road trips every year, and they always let me stop at one amusement park per year (depending on where we go). Well this year, we are driving from Minneapolis to Pittsburgh to see my sister and her family, and to visit Kennywood once again. I am trying to decide between the following parks: please give your advice! Thanks!

-SFGAM (been there once, in '97)

- Holiday World

- PKI

-Cedar Point (been there twice , 98 and 00, but TTD!)

-----------------

CP, of course

I see TTD from my living room, I live 4 miles away from the Point, and life couldn't be better.

Go to SFGam, if you were there in 97' they did not have Raging Bull which is unbelievable. Also they will have Deja Vu, Vertical Velocity, and the new B&M flyer Superman: Ultimate Flight.

At the risk of turning this into a versus thread, since you haven't been to Holiday World, I would swing by there (and sneak in PKI if you can :) )

HW has 2 world-class coasters, plenty to do for everyone, and free pop (soda, whatever you call it up there).

That's my 1.5 cents...

Free Soda? I really must visit this Holiday World place, I love Woodies, and I've never been there, but the free soda is definitly a plus(not being totally sarcastic, either!)

btw, isn't it funny how u can say "Woodie" on this forum with out others thinking you're making an inuendo?

While my vote would go to Holiday World let's be honest: when driving from M'polis to Pittsburg neither Holiday World or PKI are "on the way." Unless you have very understanding parents I'd say those two parks [and Indiana Beach] are out of the question.

Sig under construction!

To back up what Moosh said, PKI and HW are a pretty hefty detour, at least several hours out of the way. I've driven from Pittsburgh to Minneapolis many times, and CP and SFGAM are practically right off the highway (not to mention SFWOA as well). It's a 15 hour drive already, why not stick to parks that are convenient.
I'd hit sfgam. You'd spend all day waiting for ttd. And you'd be able to ride deja vu and v2 and superman ultimate flight.

'out the 100Base-T, through the router, down the OC3, over the leased line, off the bridge, past the firewall......nothin' but Net.

Thanks to everyone for the advice! I seem to have conflict with all of these parks... SFGAm is a good park, and I did not get the chance to ride Raging Bull, but I would only benefit very greatly from it and S:UF. I've been on Deja Vu at SFMM and an Impulse before, plus, by then, VF (which is a 15 minute drive from my house) will have Steel Venom.

Holiday World would be great, and it's always been my dream to ride Raven, plus there's Legend, but if I only get one park this year (aside from KW), I don't know how much it would have to offer as far as variety and full day experience goes.

I love CP, and they have Top Thrill Dragster, but I want something new, and the lines are ungodly.

PKI is beginning to be out of the question, because not many people talk about it as a great park, except they have the Beast. Who knows, maybe I'm just being too much of an enthusiast, but I can not resolve this still! Thanks again...

Having been to all 4 parks, I'd rank them, for someone in your situation, as follows:

1) SFGAM
2) CP
3) PKI
4) HW

Don't get me wrong, HW might actually be my favorite of the four parks...but for a one day stop, SFGam has the most variety (great wood, hyper, flyer, shuttle) of them all.

Hey man HW is just awesome as any of the big parks out their. My favorite 2 wooden coasters are at HW. SFGAM, CP, and PKI have more coasters, but the lines come with it. Over all I have more fun going to HW every year then any of the big parks. Really small lines, the Raven and Legend are right next to each other. Just think of how many times you would be get air on the famous fifth hill of the Raven, and the sick double up on Legend. No park can compare to that, and if you need a drink, their free too. Heck they even give you free tanning lotion in the water park. Isn't this place just awesome?

If i were in your shoes, I would probally make it SF GrAm since its seriously on the way and it has added many new rides since then.

Adam--

Thanks for considering Holiday World for your park visit. We promise to take really good care of your family if you choose us.

And remember...I have Santa's ear! :)

...okay, Matthew and Bill (Mamoosh and Rollergator) must be off today...

Stupid reply: ...and I'll be sure to give it back before the start of the season. Wouldn't want to scare any little kids.

Sigh! Sometimes I have to do *all* the work around here. :)

Well, I must've been off on vacation Paula....but that's where I'd have gone with it....that and some shabby Van Gogh reference thrown in for the *intelligencia* that "frequent" this board....frequently...;)

But you really should revisit the Santa's Lodge thread Paula...there's some serious comedic appeal in that thread...:)

I really am starting to lean towards Holiday World.....

=)

Thank you all for your advice!

If I do visit HW, I also get to visit Kennywood less than a week later, plus I get to ride one of the four coasters that has been my dream to ride since 6th grade....

Keep leaning...;)

I'm there =)

Holiday World it is. If any of you are interested in why: I have noticed (even though I have not been there yet) that Holiday World has a quality that very few amusement parks have these days. Sure there are no steel coasters in the park, and there are only 2 coasters, but this beautiful little family park is what amusement parks are supposed to be like: fun for the whole family, not very expensive admission (for two parks!), free soda, and a general great feeling to the park, which I can tell just through pictures. Although Cedar Fair, Six Flags, etc. have some great parks/rides, they are all overly corporate, fake-feelign amusement parks. The reason I love visiting Kennywood every year is because of that; it feels like a traditional amusement park with a few technological advancements. So it's decided, my parents agreed to it, and I'm excited to finally visit Holiday World! Thanks to all of you for you help!
