Which is better for kids - KI or HW?

My daughter is starting kindergarten in a couple weeks, so my wife and I decided to go to a park this week as kind of a goodbye to summer for her. We live in Louisville, so our nearest options are Kings Island and Holiday World. I haven't been to KI for at least six years, and have never been to HW. So, I'm asking for your experiences - which one is better for smaller kids? My daughter is a shade over 44" and my son is 37". Personally, I'm leaning toward KI because I haven't ridden Diamondback yet. ;) Thanks!

How upset would your kids be with not riding a roller coaster? Both your kids are under 48 inches which means no adult coasters for either of them at either park. KI has kiddie coasters they can ride, but holiday world has many more rides you could all ride together. Personally I would pick Holiday World, but I dont know your kids or you. If you go to KI most of the time you will spend will either be watching your kids ride something or you riding something while your wife rides something, at Holiday World there are more rides you will all be able to do together. Holiday World also has a much better waterpark too, if that makes any difference for you.

Well, there ya go!

But you really can't go wrong either way. If you're going during the week, the crowds at KI may be manageable. I agree with Touchdown about HW's Splashin' Safari...it's a great waterpark.

Kings Island has had the Golden Ticket for best kids area for many years in a row.

For more rides and 'stuff' (including stuff to buy), KI wins.

However - HW has excellent service on their side; included unlimited pop (with no waiting for it), and a higher overall quality experience (in my opinion).

Toss a coin and have a great time no matter where you end up.

Unlimited Pop is a really good reason NOT to bring your children there. ;)

Are you talking about that great nickelodeon themed area they used to have?;)

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I wonder if the new Snoopy theming will end their "best kid's area" award trend. It's still the same attractions. There's just a crappy theme instead of a cool theme now. :)

Well that all depends on who knows who, and how deep there pockets are.;)

That doesn't mean they have the best kids area though LOL
Its very good however with I think four coasters younger ones can ride.

Planet Snoopy at KI is considerably better looking then when it was Nick. They did a great job with the make over and not just a change of signs. I would be very surprised if it didn't continue its reign. Only 3 coasters, for some reason they consider Surf Dog to be a coaster, but it is not.

Crazy horse, in that case, with CF being so cheap, it might not happen. ;)

I'd go with KI. Holiday World is great, but if it's a kid-centric time you're after, then Kings Island has a phenomenal selection for the kiddies.

Hi

Thank you for all of the informative and entertaining discourse! I think we've settled on KI, in part because (believe it or not) the kids really want to see Snoopy. I'm sure it will be a good day, as long as the weather isn't too brutal.

Hey, we're "entertaining"... :)

Informative is nice too I suppose...LOL! ;)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

My kids are 3 and 4 and love Planet Snoopy, (they loved Nick universe as well but as far as they are concerned they could care less they changed). There are lots of other rides your kids can do, if they are 36 to 42 inches. They can ride the scrambler and Monster at 36 inches with and adult as well as the log flume. At 42 inches they can ride the pirate ship as well. Not to mention the train ride and there are quite a few slides for the little kids in Boomerang Bay. The Eiffel Tower Elevator is my 3 year old sons favorite "Ride" at the park as well as the monster.
