Where to stay over night at SFGAm

I am planning to go to SFGAm on the weekend of October, 6th and 7th (before Columbus Day). Can anybody recommend a place to stay nearby the park and how I can make reservations from Germany?
What will the weather be like in October?
Sounds early, but I don't wanna be too late in making trip plans.
Any contribution is appreciated.

Although I have never stayed at one, I know there are several hotels within a mile or two of the park. Most of them are your typical chain hotels: Hoiday Inn, Baymont Inn, Hampton Inn, etc... I think there are 3 or 4 more, but cant remember the names, sory.

Chicago weather in early October is very unpredictable. It is always different. Last year the weather was really nice up until about 0ctober 20. When you go it should be in the 60's or 70's, but it is unpredictable.

Well, since your going in October, which means Fright Fest, you will need two days to get through the whole park. Fright Fest get's very crowded, so that all I can say. As for hotels, there are a few right off the high way, you'll spot them.
