Where is the news?

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

In case you're getting a little anxious about the lack of news items on CoasterBuzz, fear not. All is well.

I just moved, and I can't even find a clean pair of pants right now, let alone figure out where I'm going to plug in the computers! Keep submitting those news items, and I will do my best to get on them as soon as I can.

Funny how real life can get in the way sometimes, eh?

P.S. We did 58 gigs of bandwidth last month... expensive! I hope you'll buy a T-shirt when I finally get the order form up!

If you ever see Jeff, you'll know him...he's the one running around SFWoA with soiled pants. ;)
Good Luck with the new dwelling!
Not to seem like a stalker which Im not what state is Jeff from? Also it is good to see that it will all be back to normal soon!
I was beginning to wonder!

Good luck with the move.

I don't get it.

You did 58 gigs of bandwidth and get charged for it?

Yet, I have cable from AT&T (Formerly MediaOne or Road Runner). I pay $100 a month to get full speed both ways (1500k). I run an ftp and a bearshare server. People suck down 1 gig from my Bearshare server each night, others suck down a gig from my ftp, and Mediaone has never called me telling me to stop.

So why do they charge you if you're hosting a web site?

Isn't it weird? I dunno, maybe you need to call AT&T and inquire about becoming a business customer. Or find some friends who run an ISP to help you out. Or go on some game sites and see what they do. This one has their own T1, www.firingsquad.com

You've got the most popular site for coaster talk since Deja went down. So the bandwidth will only go up, especially with the summer coming.
Hosts charge you more the greater your bandwidth is because of the extra demand on their equipment and lines. This is common and normal, and why some sites are having big financial problems now- they've got high bandwidth (meaning high costs fro lots of traffic) and advertising rates have plummetted.

Welcome to life- where nothing's really free, the costs just come in unexpected ways.
