now i look at it, i can only see 2...(the raven turns)..that is unless you count the spinning of the seats as inversions..which you shouldnt

well they will count the turning of the seats cause well they turn u upside down.
then why do boomerangs only count 3 inversions? if you go upside down 6 times, shouldnt that be 6 inversions?

exactly
Why shouldn't you count the seat rotations as inversions?

This will be a never ending debate much like what counts as a rollercoaster, etc. In this day and age of revolutionary coaster concepts, my opinion if your body is 180º to the ground, then that indeed counts as an inversion; no matter what the track does. If you don't count the seat rotations, then there possibly might not be any (felt) inversions.

Until we see exactly how the seats rotate, we can't tell if there will actually be an "regular" inversion. Sure the track flips upside down for about half of the ride, but the seats will be rotated/rotating in the meanwhile.

For the information you seek, there will be two inversions: one after the first Raven Turn and up until the ½ inline-twist. The second inversion would be at the bottom of the second Raven turn and up until the second ½ inline-twist.

They don't count boomerangs as six inversions? What the heck! This stuff shouldn't even need to be debated. If you are turned upside down (x) number of times, that's how many inversions there are. Why complicate things?

The following statement is true.
The preceding statement is false.
Who cares? I mean it's gonna be a hell of a ride. It can have no inversions and spin 15 times annd it would be incredible

The SFMM Salvi:
"Goliath Jr. looks to intense for me"
"I want to go on something more exciting than X"
From www.dictionary.com:

in·ver·sion (n-vûrzhn, -shn)
n.
1.
a. The act of inverting.
b. The state of being inverted.

From the Six Flags website:

1 - Sky Dive
1 - Twisting front flip
2 - Back flips
2 - Raven Turns

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that adds up to 6 !

(I'm disappointed - they took down the video CG animation of X.
Now I can't freak out my non-coaster riding friends by showing it to them)

The animation is at the Magic Mountain homepage.
I've posted cleaned up versions of the video's from twisted rails site at

http://www.region64.com/x/

basically did some color correction (best I could do) and stretching in aftereffects. The first person video shows some amazing things X will do. First off is the seat spin on the hill after the 1st raven turn. Second there are two points where the track flips and the cars spin, making you go from a forward facing direction to backwards. Out of all the tricks X does, this one seems like it's going to be the most interesting feeling.

special thanks to Karl at twistedrails.com for getting the video in the first place, that guy is awesome.

Can you provide a link ? I couldn't find it yesterday. If they didn't delete it, they at least moved it from where it used to be. Thanks.

Thanks for those other links, Avantpop. I hadn't seen those movies yet !

almost forgot. the video on http://www.region64.com/x/ is the arrow video, not the one on sixflags.com. There are some differences between the videos, with the Arrow video being accurate to what the ride will actually do. The sixflags.com video is better looking, but there are some differences between it and the final ride.

Thanks!

Nope. That's only Deja Vu. Both videos used to be together as the "Extreme Park" video, but now they only have the Deja Vu one. The X video appears nowhere to be found.

Don't worry about it unless you really want to find it and post it (if you can).
I'm over it, and don't feel like having every other post in this topic. ;)

if you watch the video, you (physically) dont even rotate in both raven turns; its like the track is at your back, and keeps you horizontal to the ground when you exit the turns..

Boomerangs are considered 6 loops. 3 forwards and 3 backwards.
Well there's a video of X testing at Twistedrails.com he just posted it today and I guess Karl hasn't had the time to post it as a news item. *** This post was edited by rob4420 on 8/14/2001. ***
