When You Own a Theme Park and a Hockey Team

... writers get to come up with articles like this. The inevitable tie-in to a roller coaster season.

"You do what to can. The competitive edge is always there, but at the same time you want to help out your teammates," Bacashihua said. "We all get along well. That obviously makes a team stronger. I haven't been playing as much as I'd like. But I've been taking care of myself off the ice. I like to think of myself as a young 27 instead of an old 27."

There's only one way to find out who is the youngest at heart - an all-goalie outing to Hersheypark. "Being around all these young kids, it makes me feel young too," Bacashihua said. "We'll see if they enjoy it as much as I do."

Nice to get a park mentioned in a story on NHL news. Funny that a guy whose job is to stop pucks that are sailing toward him at 90 mph would hold on to the lapbar on a coaster. But I'm not convinced that 27 is too old either for being a goalie or for riding coasters.

Well, Bacashihua and Holtby would probably be okay with it... but injury prone Neuvirt (sp) would probably come away with an "unspecified lower body injury" and be out for two to three more weeks.

What they should do is put all of the fighers and tough guys (Weller, Amadio, G.McNeil) onto the bumper cars and let them have ago at each other.

(of course only locals around Hershey will have any idea who in the world we are talking about)

"Yes... well... VICTORY IS MINE!"

Too bad HP's bumper cars are only good for 2 laps a cycle. :)

How about a grudge match between Hershey's and WBS's enforcers/goons on Knoebels' Dodgems? It's sort of halfway between the two arenas. Winner gets to face the GCII crew.

The only day they can schedule this visit is the 11th. The Bears have games every other night of Springtime in the Park, some of them away. Of course, I'm sure the Bears are planning to be still playing throughout May and into June-- again.

^ Naw. The Manchester Monarchs are gonna crush the Bears (if they DO meet). ;)

Coaster Junkie from NH
I drive in & out of Boston, so I ride coasters to relax!

^ You have very good goaltending, but not enough scoring. They're hanging on for their playoff lives right now.
