When is Xcelerator reopening?

Hey! Iḿ a Knotts Fanboy and I want to know if anyone here knows when Xcelerator will re-open?

It's an Intamin ride, it will open when it's done. Seriously, my sources at the Farm are refusing to give any kind of a date on completion. This is not unusual for these particular rides. Having had at least one reported incident on the launch system, DOSH is going to make them jump through many hoops.

It’s closed? Darn it, I just.... oh never mind.

Well, it’s been closed for nearly 6 months now. It closed shortly after Volcano at Kings Dominion reopened after a 2 week downtime period this summer.

Not a good year for Cedar Fair Intamin coasters at all.

It was open when I was there on 2 separate days in July.

Well, it was probably closer to 4 months. Definately feels like 6 though

Same. July 13th and July 14th I think. I rode it on July 14th.

So not even 3.5 months... Still a long time.

Based on reddit, it happened late July. Linked picture on imgur was uploaded August 1st. The OP suggests he has spoken to folks at the park, and states it might be February before it is open again.

A long time later, the cable arrived! SO excited for it to reopen!

Xcelerator started testing again yesterday! I can’t wait for it to reopen- it’s been far too long.

Anyone know what the actual story was? Someone on Facebook says it was a demolished catch car but TTD wrecked its catch car last fall and was up within a month. Someone else said it was down due to Hangtime construction.

But then again, what do I know?

My personal theory is Xcelerator would have re-opened a while ago if TTD did not have its catch car fail.

As dumb as this might sound, I think CF basically switched the shipping address of the first catch car Intamin could ship them. Not sure why Xcelerator ended up even more delayed after CP closed for the winter, and I highly doubt we ever will know.

That is not at all a crazy theory.

TTD being open for Halloweekends at CP represented a greater need than Xcellerator being open over the winter months at Knotts.

That's still an absurd turnaround time even if the part had to be fabricated from scratch. Regardless of the complexity. Seems to me CF was probably unwilling to pay a rush fee.

The best of all the jokers is clearly Mark Hamill.

So ship the catch car from TTD to Xcelerator after CP closed in October? Gotta take it all apart anyway. Then Xcelerator runs for the last 4+ months instead of waiting Intamin to find enough unobtainium to build another catch car.

I don’t know how much truth there is to this, but I read that CF didn’t go to Intamin for the parts, but another company who had never built these parts before. Seems unlikely, but thought I’d share what I heard.
