Now that we know that Kennywood isn't breaking MF and SD's records. When and where do you think these records will be broken?
Thats not exactly true. I don't beleive they ever mentioned the max drop or max height for Phantom. They did say 230 second drop. But not any statistics for the other drops.
IntaminFan, they have said officially it is going to have a maximum speed of 85 mph. A coaster with a drop longer or higher than MF or SD would go much faster than 85mph. Its length is also officially 3200ft. Given the fact that we know the lift hill and the 2nd hill are being retained where is the room for a 300+ ft drop?? I was hoping this thing would be a giga also but continuing to think there is more is kind of frivolous at this point.
PKI has enough room for one, but that is unlikely. SFOT could have done it, but it looks like they're going with a coaster with Goliath-like stats. That leaves another Cedar Fair park, Knott's Berry Farm. The 300 plus foot drop could be done easily, of course Knott's version would probably be slightly shorter, and would probably run through the employee parking lot.
Come on Dorney! Well not next year due to the invert. Then again they always have complaints from neighbors about everything, not to mention the strict zoning. I don't think it will be Dorney unless they put 100ft. of the drop underground. ;)

Parks hit for 2000!
PKD,BGW,DP,HP,PKI,HW,SFKK,SFA,SFNE,LC,GE,QP,Camden,Lakemont,Knoebels, SFO,CP,
The only parks that have the room for a 300+hyper is PKI and SFMM.
All the other current parks are either to small or are limited to height restrictions.
Kennywood has no chance with a lift only 200 feet or so and a maximum speed of 85....not tallest, definately not fastest, it's just not going to come close.
How about hershey? They were rumored to have gotten a permit to build something over 300 ft. They need a big steel coaster.
I think it will be Six Flags Magic Mountain, with a drop of 325...The builder will be Intamin. This will happen and open in 2002!

CP Twister, That is a good point, but what I'm saying is they never gave a max drop on the WHOLE Coaster. So it could still be a giga. But your probley right
What's with this room thing? Large coaster take up FAR less rome than people think. Anyone ever been to Blackpool Pleasure Beach? If a park wants a Giga, believe me they can build one. It is more of a money issue than anything else, 300ft coasters are quite expensive, and there's no guarentee that people will come and ride it.

I was recently at SFMM and I asked two different workers if MM would get a bigger coaster than Goliath both of them said that they can't build anything taller than SM:TE because of LAX airport. But they both also said they heard about a bigger coaster than Goliath was being disinged for SFMM. So maybe SFMM will have the next giga. But I know if those workers are telling the truth or not.
I would love to see a park that doesn't get much attention, like the Great Escape get a giga coaster. That would really make them a six flags park.

I would love to see a giga at Mich. Adv. as it is only 45 minutes away. However, I highly doubdt they could afford a giga. A hyper is a definate possibility. Apparantly there are construction markings there that match the outline of an out and back coaster. My guess is that they will get some type of hyper coaster. Although I did not think they would get it until 2002 or 2003. My guess for the next giga would be on the west coast. Either SFMM or Knotts.
Theres no way that SFMM will get a giga. Theres absolutely no point with goliath, that coaster isnt a giga but pretty damn close and it just wouldnt make sense to build one, but you know how sixflags parks are with common sense, i mean just about every park has a vekoma bommerang and slc and alot have batmans. Theres nothing unique about the parks.
Just an off the wall kinda coolbut wont happen lol. Ok what if Phantoms Revenge took riders down the side of the revene into the river in a real scary overbanked turn and then the riders are shoot right out of the tunnel going into the river. Lol instead of tricking the riders they feel the rath of phantoms revenge! Please dont shoot this down i just thought had a kool thought.
