When all else fails duct tape it!

Ok this is a little frightening and shocking. At Six Flags Great America on their latest Attraction DEJA VU. They have been using all types of materials to help it stay open. The most interesting would have to be the duct tape. Yes thats right, while waiting in line for row 8B I looked up and saw a shimmer of Grey against the steel cabel. The duct tape is on the cabel to mark the location of where the tow system should be in the station. It looks rather odd and it scared the crap out of me when I first saw it

I don't know why it would be scary to see if its just marking something, its not like its holding the cable together or anything, lol now that would be scary. I don't see how that would help it run either.

Maybe they were running under NASCAR rules? "If it moves and shouldn't, use duct tape. If it should move but doesn't, use WD-40." :)

If you can't duct it, ____ it ! ;)

Lol!!

I know helicopter mechanics who call it "500mph tape".
Once at my county fair, the Scrambler's doors were held on with duct tape. That freaked me out.

And there weren't any inspectors around? Jeese, I'm not afraid to go on fair or carnival rides but I think that's one I'd pass on!

It's his turn to feast, when you ride the Son of Beast.

Use of tape for position markers isn't all that unusual. Last year there were strips of tape on Nitro to mark the minimum engagement position for the lap bars. Son't know if that has changed or not this year.
Yes it's so frightening and shocking that they would use tape to mark something! Imagine that!!! The world is now coming to an end.

Duct tape also makes for nice patching jobs & such, holes in seats & such;). The parks that use electrical tape on the cars, shows they don't know. It just doesn't do the wonderful job the good grey stuff can do. I've used it hundreds of times for temp repairs, only to see it hold so well that it's became permanent.
It's all that's holding my old Honda together.

You think thats bad, Ive seen coasters that use lasers to sense where a train is at!! Come on how cheap is that, using light to measure... ;)

PKI uses tape to mark where the brake fin should be in the catcher on Face/Offs lifts

If you like what your riding now, just wait until its my time to design

And lets not forget the duct tape that is (was?) actually on Wicked Twister's track just behind the station...

I accually find it comforting that they are making sure the mechanisms on the ride are being measured. Raging Bull has tape, too. Probably the same kind that Jim Fisher was talking about. You know, the little red strips at the lapbar's pivot? Another example of tape used for measurement.

Duct tape is probably being used instead of a less-noticable tape for that reason, the ops should be able to see it asap so the don't slow down load times checking to make sure the train is lined up (but then again... how can you slow down load times any more than they already are? ;))

Less than 2 weeks until SFGAm opens!

It wasn't Scary but it was more shocking. We were talking about it's poor engineering and we look up and there is the all fix solution. Duct Tape is man's greatest invention. It was used in space to save Apollo 13 and it holds my guitar together. God bless the stuff

First off, I am surprised the Ron Anderson hasn't mentioned anything yet, given the fact that his signature is all about duct tape.

I once flew to Iceland on a jet-prop plane and the wings had duct tape all over them to hold on various parts. Needless to say, I was mighty concerned when the duct tape started shedding somewhere over Greenland. All I could think of was the Soccer team in Chile that had to eat each other to survive.;)

Funny. I have a friend who was in the Navy. He was telling me once... "You wouldn't believe how many of our fighter jets are held together by duct tape."
