When a train cannot complete the circuit........

How do the mechanics get the train back to the station when it cannot complete the circuit?

When the ride comes to a stop.......please stand up - please stand up - please stand up!
When a train rolls back, usually the park has to remove the upstop wheels off the train and then use a crane to transport the train, car by car, back to the end of the ride, where the mechanics put the trains back together. Yes, rollbacks are a pain in the ***!

Coasters...the best natural buzz available.
Or mechanics get out and push, the grab a wench, and the list is endless. Promise this, you can hear plenty of foul language and skipped lunches when this happens.
Uh, Johnson, I think the word you're thinking of is "winch." Kind of changes the whole tone of the sentence. The exact reaction to the rollback depends in large part on exactly where the train is when it hangs up. Sometimes they can just push it, or use a come-along or a winch...I watched Cedar Point pull Gemini through part of the course with a long wire rope, a couple of pulleys, and a front-end loader. Sometimes the easiest solution is simply to take the train apart. When Son of Beast vallied in the first helix last season, instead of removing the up-stops from the train, they cut the track rail on one side to get the train off. (Yes, they fixed the track once they got the train clear.)

Imagine if the booster on hulk malfuncioned, and instead of boosting the train to 40mph, it barely got it over the hill... it would never make it to the top of the first cobra roll, since that is just as high as the first drop, that would be a pain.

Imagine if it malfunctioned and went to 60 MPH! What a great ride that would be!

Jack, who can't wait for Opening Day 2001... *** This post was edited by sfga2001 on 1/16/2001. ***
When we visited Lake Compounce this summer, Boulder Dash was closed for the day. When we got in the park, we saw that it had valleyed on the upper section of the track, a few hills before the turnaround. Because of all the trees that are there, they were forced to use some sort of hand winch to pull it along. We kept checking progress all day, but by the time we left, they were only to the bottom of the last hill before the turnaround. We came back the next evening and it was running fine. I don't know if they had to do anything after they got it to the turnaround or if they just let it go and it was able to get back to the station.
