What's wrong with this picture?

Dutchman and I were musing about some things while driving yesterday . . .

. . . like whether a park could make more (or at least as much) money by selling more ride photos at slightly lesser prices, and

. . . why don't parks use a decent background or costumed character (or at PKI, just turn the folks around) when taking those in-the-front-gate papparazzi photos, and

. . . does anyone actually email a picture of themselve standing in front of the bathrooms at PKI (ok, this is a variation on the last one).

OK, I love pictures. I have rolls of film of parks that I can't afford to get developed. LOL! I would buy many, many more park pictures if (a) they were more affordable ($10 for a ride picture still seems high to me) or (b) the picture showed something I wanted (I bet a good background or character would double the number of gate photos sold).

So, the people who run these places aren't dumb. Why do they do this the way they do?
You can send a quick video from the top of the Empire State Building. I think it would be cool to send a video of you on a coaster. They last about 2 minutes.

I tend not to buy these anymore. Most of the time you can't tell what the ride is anyway and then it ends up buried in my closet somewhere. :)

I'd rather buy an overpriced t-shirt.

I never buy the on-ride photos because I don't think I take good pictures in the first place, and add to that going 50+ mph with the wind and G-forces... Yikes. Maybe for halloween, I guess... :)

I'd just like nice, professional photos of the rides themselves - some coasters are so beautiful! Of course, any coaster is beautiful...

Yes, they are dumb at times. It's the almighty dollar sweetie!

Note to self. Move away from Downtown San Diego. Far away from the man who swears at 3AM at the top of his lungs!
I love on-ride photos because it's a still-photo of you and your buddy captured forever on paper (as opposed to maybe digital as a lot of people switch to that format).

This year, I am trying to finish my collection of all the on-ride photos at Cedar Point. I still need Mean Streak, Magnum, & Raptor.

I like it because it's a slice of life from the good ol' times. I don't like the prices... but a picture is worth a thousand words (not quite a thousand dollars though!).

Oh... and there are a lot of parks with good backgrounds. At Six Flags Darien Lake, they take you picture in front of the fountain, which is a great back-drop! Cedar Point kind of has you at an ok location with some bushes & flowers!
