What's Up With Vertical Velocity?

I'm heading up to the bay area shortly and was wondering if anyone knows what is currently happening with Vertical Velocity at SFMW. Have they begun the rebuilding of the front of the ride yet? Any idea on when it will reopen? Also, what are the crowds like at this park? Can you give me the average wait times for Medusa and Kong? Thanks!

IF you go on a weekday (Friday) The park is virtually empty. On weekends, the lines for Medusa and Kong never exceed 20 mins. Kong may be a little longer because one of their trains is in not operating. When I went V2 was still shut down (Last Sat.) and there was no track in sight, nor any construction vehicles. Methinks it won't be open for your visit .

Those who think young say Pepsi please!
V2 hasn't gotten its track yet! You'll have fun at SFMW and if you can only see ONE show, defiently see the brand new Ski Xtreme! Make shure you go to Animal Adventure, It's huge and try to get to Tiger Island Splash Attack during the listing trainning times thats defiently my favorite exhibit there. Have Fun!

Not MLK's words but mine..I have a Dream! I have a DREAM! I HAVE A DREAM!
I have a dream! That SFMM fans will be able to walk hand in hand with CP's!
AND no ONE cares what a coaster is and what a coaster isn't!

Groan, don't you mean what's DOWN with V2?
Hopefully V2 will be worth it in the end. I think it'll feel weird (in a good way) to go through the "Zero-G" roll backwards on an inverted roller coaster.

You can't spell my hometown's name with out "Lame"! aLAMEda...:) He...he...I have the feeling I'm the only one laughing...I guess you had to be there...

The track is sitting in the lot, but it's gonna' be hard to do that construction while the park is open. I guessing that they'll be working during the weekdays that the park is closed. I watched them take down the twisting vertical spike(Ok I sort of cheated. We were at the Chabot Observatory on what is the highest elavation that a structure is based at in the Bay Area. Those sweet telescopes came in handy for looking at more than stars ;)) They did it in one day and it was more than just raining. The clouds were pouring the Pacific on us. Suprisingly, V2 was down and out. The construction will not be the biggest problem, because hight clearance was not exactly wy V2 is being modified. There are many major problems. Right nwo, they finished redoing(or are) the que, they're putting in a blah floor, they have to take out and install a new brake system for the back spike(which hasn't worked since May 2001 :(), oneof those generators are being replaced, and they still have to put up the track for the back spike where the brakes are being put in(that is why it looks so short, not all of it is up there.) Six Flags and INtiman made a lot of mistakes while building V2 and now they'll have to make up hard time for it.

Uhh...more vague assertions. "Height clearance is not the issue...." "Six Flags and Intamin made a lot of mistakes..." Uhh..the impulses at SFWOA and SFGAm seem to be alright and are not being modified. Be more specific.

LOL Bull Fan, I wouldn't exactly go as far as to say "the SFGAm impulse is alright." It was almost down more than it was up last year!

I really hope Intamin can fix that thing for the start of the season, V2 is a great attraction.

Does Vertical Velocity at Six Flags Great America have a holding break that actually turns on? Does it also launch you at more than 10 mph? Your Vertical Velocity may have problems but nothing compared to SFMW's V2 issues.

I know the LIM on the back spike works at SFGAm, can't tell you anymore, 'cause I have no clue about actual launch speed. It's been different everywhere I check for it.
