Double Loop has been down all season. The trains were being retrofitted with an automatic harness release system as they were still utilizing the old manual pedals. From what I have heard, the one train that was completed did not pass state inspection.... so it is still down while more work can be done.
I have no idea what's wrong with Mind Eraser. It has been down the last 2 to 3 weeks. The Giant Wheel is also down and I don't believe El Dorado (Huss/Weber 1001 Nachts) has operated all season either.
Kinda makes that radio claim of having "10 of the most awesome mega coasters on the planet" seem like false advertising! :)

Sounds to me like business as usual.

7/27: Subdivision Cam becomes party cam at the year's hottest Ohio luau!
When I was there in early June, they closed Mind Eraser for short periods throughout the day for no other reason (from my grasp) then the fact that no one was riding it. The park was desolate, our group of 6 people were able to ride Mind Eraser twice, both without anyone else on the train.
From the various ventures into that area of the park (for X-Flight, mainly), when the ride was closed, there was no one up on the platform at all, and certainly no sign of mechanics or engineers in the vicinity. When it was open, it would have been a stretch to say that a total of 200 people rode it during the ENTIRE DAY.
Maybe it is mechanical now. I'm not sure how crowds are there anymore.

The longer Double Loop stays down, the more suspicious I am of the "retrofit the trains" excuse. It's the middle of July. We have nowhere near the resources that 6F does, and we could've made one from scratch by now.
To make the bars automatic, assuming the "kick" cars are essentially the same as the "automatic" cars, one would need to add a lower wheel that is still connected to the upper bars to release the ratcheting release mechanism. Add an air compressor and a bar to push up on the wheels. Bingo, I'm done.
Plus, you can't tell me that Six Flags doesn't have an extra Arrow train somewhere within its many parks and graveyards. Arrow trains haven't changed in 20 years. Just paint over where it says "Viper" or whatever. Put a big WoA sticker on it and go.
There's something smelly here. I think the problems are much bigger than they're letting on.

As someone who grew up with Geauga Lake and lives only 30 miles away, I have always been a "supporter" of the park and will continue to do so. However, it seems like I end up leaving the park more and more frustrated with every visit.
What gets me so upset about this park? For starters, the inconsistent operations, the always present "Closed Attractions", the insanely high prices of food and drinks, and the infamous staff all add up to a place that seems like it doesn't know what it wants to do. Are we trying to be better than Cedar Point like the people in our ads say? Are we trying to please the former Sea World crowds by bringing in a killer whale? Or are we just out to make money and screw the guests once they are inside the gates? Each time I visit, I get a different impression.
On Opening Weekend, employees and managers were going out of their way to say "Hello", and to "Have a Great Day". As the season wore on, this practice faded into obscurity, operating hours were scaled back, and the staff was reduced due to low attendance. By my last visit, there was one train operation on many rides, indifferent and sluggish employees (mostly on the rides side), the outrageously priced "Lo-Q" had been implemented, and SIX rides were down for the day. I thought Six Flags would make "every effort to re-open any closed rides as soon as possible". I guess I thought wrong.
SFWoA has some very good things going for it. It's a unique mix of attractions that seems to work surprisingly well. The park's setting is actually rather nice. And they have 3 truly great coasters in Villain, Batman Knight Flight and Big Dipper. It has been my closest home park for my entire life. I just want to see the park do well, and to start acting like the big-time player they are portraying themselves as. Maybe they should slow down the expansions a bit and concentrate on getting the attractions they do have to work correctly (cough... X-Flight...cough) and also focus on moving guests through the lines in an efficient manner without having them pay $20 for a line-cutting privilege. Until that happens, they can pay all the people they want to say that they drove right past Cedar Point to get to Six Flags... because the general public will tire of the constant problems at the parks formerly known as Geauga Lake and Sea World and just stop going.

There was actually a line for it no less. Still IMO is the smoothest bommerang in the USA.
The only thing down yesterday...And I mean ONLY thing down was Double Loop.
Double Loop according to SWoA should be open with in the next two weeks. I got to watch them test the harnesses opening and closing all at once. They seem to be working like they are suppose to from the ground. Kinda of strange seeing that on the Double Loop. The park is really getting things together.
