What's Up With CP's Older Coasters?

Gemini-

This is a great coaster! It has alot of air time on the hills and speed but on Tues and Wed it was a WALK-ON ride all day..

Cedar Creek Mine Ride-

Thrilling for smaller kids also a walk-on both days

Corkscrew-Walk-on

Mean Streak- well, we know why!

Magnum- walk-on after 6pm both days

Raptor- walk-on after 5pm on Tuesday and 30 min wait on Wed

Millennium Force and Mantis were over 45 mins and that was expected but the park was crowded during the afternoon both days..so why the short lines for the older coasters?

Doesn't anyone love them anymore? :(

Well I still do, if you're going to Cedar Point I think you should experience all of the coasters. They're all great in their own way.

Corkscrew had all 3 trains running and the ride is short, so I can see it having minimal lines..Gemini had 2 blue trains going on Tues but all 4 (Red and Blue) Wednesday and still no lines and I love that coaster!

Magnum is THE best..I think when they built Steel Force at Dorney they left some things out..Magnum just rocks..and even more at night!!

The Magnum is awesome. The longest I've ever waited is 25min and thats on a crowded day. But, I mean, who wants to ride a stupid hypercoaster that goes faster than legal speed limits on the highway anymore. Gosh, that's so last year. (Wink, wink.)

Me Me Me!

I only rode MF once this trip... :( (wah wah wahhhhhhhhh)

We wanted to make sure that we got to ride everything this trip for the 2 days at CP and plus we have 2 kids so we were in Kiddy Kingdom and Camp Snoopy alot.

So when alot of the coasters became no waits..we rode them numerous times...

I love MF..my fave steel coaster!

Wel what is the GP gonna go to: the new 300 foot coaster, or the ten year old 200 foot coaster?

"Wel what is the GP gonna go to: the new 300 foot coaster, or the ten year old 200 foot coaster?"

Magnum is still awesome for an over 10 year old coaster..and with No WAIT? That's where I went instead of waiting over 45 mins for another MF ride..

if the wait was shorter, then I would have gone to MF..but Magnum a walk-on? I grabbed 5 extra rides!

Just because it's a walk on doesn't mean nobody likes them anymore...

What are you on?

Gemini, Magnum, and Raptor all gave more rides than Millennium Force in 2001 so to say no one likes them anymore is a bit off. Magnum gave over 2,130,000 rides in 2001 - it's second highest total ever. Raptor gave about 30,000 more rides than Magnum too. Gemini won the race as usual though thanks to their huge capacity. :)

He is the first person I heard complaining about no lines lol. I wish some parks were like that.
I love Magnum, but personally can't see (or feel) the difference between this Arrow Hyper, and a Morgan Hyper.

Gemini's capacity is so great--- does it ever have a line? It was crowded as hell when I was there in '96, but Gemini was walk-on...

First off I'm a SHE...hence my name MOM?

And considering the last time I went to CP, all the coasters had over 1 hour waits..maybe more..such a huge difference in 2 years from over an hour plus to no waits at all.

then you have to look at CP being voted the #1 amusement park, and the park with the most coasters..then think to yourself if you are a tourist.."hmm...how come a majority of the coasters have No LINES?"

Wouldn't that seem a bit strange to you?

I guess I must be on something right?

Yup, I'm on COASTERBUZZ. :)

I think the no lines is why CP is always voted best for capacity. And that in itself is enough to bring people to the park. With 15 coasters, and lots of other things to do, GP is more spread out now. The longest waits seem to be for MF and Mantis, which frees up a lot of the other rides.

I'll tell ya that I was impressed again with the staff and the fact that the ride ops get the trains dispatched fast.

They are constantly moving..and RAPTOR had the best Ride Ops..with MAGNUM at a close 2nd..:)

Don't complain, more fun for us, that's what's important. How about Blue Streak? That's a walk-on almost any day all season. I'd expect CCMR to be a walk on, and why take 200 feet when you can have 300. I don't know why but Raptor's lines can get pretty short for no real reason. Corkscrew has no appeal when there's Raptor and Mantis to be ridden, but I like Corkscrew myself. Gemini is a very good ride, IMO. Great capacity and who doesn't like racing (if you slap hands, whatever you do, DON'T HOLD ON!), also very smooth and nice drops. I guess everybody is doing something else.

That's the great thing about Cedar Point. The lines are getting shorter because of the capacity, not from their popularity waning! They do a great job there so you DON'T have lines.
Don't even ask how much love I have for "Arrow Alley"......

Ozzy, thats because they are cousins, if you will, in the family of ride manufacturers!

...I gotta ask if this is the same CoasterMom (from URC) that I met at CoasterCon. If so, HI!....if not, Hi!

CP ride-ops are the best thing since SRM and PPP....they HUSTLE, and we appreciate it a LOT! ...and having returned from SoCal, I guess I can appreciate what a shock it must be to see ride-ops that care....;)

Gee Mom, I wish I could have that Complaint at CP. Seems every time I go the shortest waits are 1.5hrs.

I did visit on a labor day in I think '96 where it just seemed the park was empty. I tried this trick the next year and it was slammed. Go figure but man, thats my main complaint about CP is crowds and the one reason i don't visit more.

Chuck, who thinks a 1.5hr wait for corkscrew and Iron Dragon is just plain crazy despite they are both three train coasters.
