What's the update @SFKK

Has vertical construction started an Greezed Lightning yet?
Nope, they are still clearing land and pouring footers.
I thought they had all that done already.
There are some recent pics from Scott & Carol Holmes here!

So are they going to repaint it once they put it up? Its supposed to be blue right? I haven't paid much attention.

They are going to paint it before they put it up. The animation on the local TV station showed it being green and purple. One thing I'd like to know though, is it supposed to be ready on opening day? It says, "Opening Spring 2003," so I take it that it will not be open on April 5th.

I don't know it's not a long ride I bet it could be put together pretty quickly.

The main thing is, Greezed ViperWave (or whatever you wanna call it) has been sitting outside rusting in the elements ever since it was dismantled in late 2001. I believe SFKK will take their time constructing it to ensure proper construction. As we all know, Viper experienced minor problems every once and a while at SFoG. They will most likely do some close inspection of each part while its constructed to ensure that the ride will reach optimum run time with minimal breakdowns. Or they may just throw it together. Who knows.

Once they finish clearing land, pouring footers, and painting the supports and track, it will only take a few weeks to put together. I hope it is ready for opening day.

It's amazing how scarce pics of Greezed Lightnin's construction are on the net. However, I managed to find this construction update from Feb. 26th:

Actually I was just at the park Saturday and took pics. I will post later tonight.

Probably the reason pics are scarce is vertical construction just began. In typical SFKK fashion, the coaster is behind schedule and will not be ready for park opening.

The launch area and rear spike are nearly complete. However, the loop and front spike are nowhere near ready with footers just now being poured. About 2/3 of the coaster is still lying in disrepair behind Chang.

FYI it looks as though they are painting a piece or two at a time, then transferring it over to the construction site. Also, Tin Lizzies is not being relocated, it will just manuever under the rear portion of the ride. Courtesy of some long, large corrigated steel pipes that will form tunnels. Can you say LOUD?

Shaggy, it looks to me like they haven't painted some of the support pieces that are already erected. Also, is the final color scheme going to be green track w/ blue supports?

For the most part, blue supports with green track. I noticed that part of the launch appeared to be primed white, and had yet to get the green paint.

But in addition to the blue supports, there appear to be some smaller ones that will be green like the track.... namely a view small diameter rear spike supports.

The green is very close to what Viper used at SFOG, but it is all new. I got really upclose and personal with the unassembled track and supports and man those things are rusty!

Interesting that some of the supports will match the track. I can't really picture how that's going to look, since, when looking at this picture, you can see that there doesn't seem to be any sort of pattern. Looking forward to seeing the final product (and riding (again) during my first visit to SFKK)...

As crappy as that will be, it just seem to fit the tenor of the park so well it will almost be fun (or just funny).

Vater, my theory, and I don't know how reasonable it is, is that they just wanted to start getting the supports up, so they put up that green piece and are planning to paint it blue to match the others later.
