What's the most expensive rollercoaster ever built
Does anyone know?
I'd put my money (no pun intended) on SFMM's Superman: The Escape or Steel Dragon 2000. I know SD2K came in at an estimated $51.1 million, but I've heard with all the reasearch and technology involved with S:TE, it was pretty costly as well.
The Steel Dragon 2000 in Nagashima Japan. With a cost of $51 million , it is the world's most expensive non-themed coaster.
------------- ------------------------ Mindbender...Can you hear the Riddler chuckling?
It is steel dragon at 51 million.
Don't anybody say Spiderman at Islands of Adventure... that is not a coaster in any way... it's more of a simulation & an intense ride than a roller coaster... (why am I saying that... because I heard it clocked in at 100 million).
Steel Dragon 2000 was the most expensive, but I thought it was 52 million. That park is just plain crazy... the next year they add yet another coaster... that S&S Thrust Air coaster. I guess Japan must grow their money on trees.
------------- The Great Escape... Soon to become Six Flags Adirondack Escape!!!
No, I think Spiderman was more in the price range of 250 million. Somebody made a comment a while back on how the park should have built 10 Millennium Force's instead. :)
WOW. I thought B&M was outrageous. STICK WITH ARROW!!! Very cost effective, with the same level of thrills! I just had more fun on Trailblazer at Hershey Park than MF. Watch those hands! ------------- Scale model coasters and rides..... www.angelfire.com/oh4/tk173
Dawg Byte, SD2K and the Thrust Air are at different parks. One is at Fujikyu Highland (the Thrust Air), while the other is at Nagashima Spa Land.
