What's so good about PKI

I'm planning a trip to PKI next month, but by looking at the coasters they just look like normal sit-down woodie and steel coasters. I went a 4 years ago and had fun but I was only 10 and had to stay with my family. Can somebody tell me about the thrill rides and what to expect on them?(except the records broken on Beast, SoB, etc.).

Mike

TRTR Great ride when it runs. its a tottally immersive dark ride experence in a BOX!
Delirium great ride Very fun low spew factor
Flying eagles. Great ride
Ball buster AKA king cobra is gone. 4 years, so Face/off and Drop zone are new to you.

w000000t! A thread called "What's so good about PKI", and SOMEHOW I managed to beat Danny, aka PKI fanboy4lyfe, to the thread!

Now that the teasing part is over (HAD to take care of that first, hehe)...what makes PKI "so good" IMO is that their kids' area is completely unmatched....

As far as rides/coasters, Beast has been *taking a beating* lately 'round hyeah....not sure what's up with that, but I imagine it's related to the fact that Beast was overrated for so long...THE helix finale is still one of the top moments in coastering for me, but the first half of the ride still needs some WORK so that it can RUN at decent speeds...Top Gun is one of the better suspendeds (ONE lift? Wow.) FoF is the *original* topless Premier coaster. Racer has significant historical importance, and a decent ride (*backwards*). There IS a lot of good at PKI...

Haven't ridden Delirium, but ALL indications are that it's a real winner. The flyers are FAR and away the best-run set I've seen at ANY chain park. As far as Drop Zone is concerned, simply the BEST drop ride I've ridden...Acro Shmacro...

Bottom line: There IS a LOT of good at PKI, and if I lived closer, I'd go every year...even if it ISN'T as good as Danny says...;)

It seems today, that all you see, are violins in movies, and sax on TV....

Heh, I beat his PKIlovin' arse too. It's a great park with a sensational lineup of flat rides. I'm gonna develop carpal tunnal syndrome over how much I've gushed about the flyers aka "Flying Eagles". Beast is wonderful up front. In the back, avoid the wheel seats.

It's a great park Delerium is worth the price of admission alone. Have fun.

I'm not an enthusiast. I just play one on message boards.

I agree with what everyone here has said. It's my home park, and I love it.

Definetely ride Racer backward in 1.3 (for those that don't understand that's Car 1 Row 3.) And for Racer backwards, it's exactly the same seat as Racer forward. The Car right by the ops booth. So basically, the 3rd row you have the chance to get into as you're coming in the station.

Definitely go on TR:TR. I didn't get to go on too many of the better rides since I was with my little brother when I went to PKI and he hates heights, but Tomb Raider and Flight of Fear were great. They were pretty much the only rides there that didn't hurt his back.

Delirium is the real deal (except when ridden 3 consecutive times at BeastBuzz...) :)

Flight of Fear, minus the shoulder harnesses, is not to be missed. I also enjoy Tomb Raider, although some people say it's not worth the wait.

Enjoy your trip!

Pinball and Coasters...Any Questions?

Believe it or not, I saw this thread last night and really wasn't interested... er, I knew "my boys" would know what I needed to say without the evil, unpopular "bias" being called out on. ;)

I figured your pager would've gone off with some kind of alert.

Delirium is the single greatest "flat ride" ever. That might seem like a tall claim, but it's true. I can't think of any other non-coaster thrill ride that tops it. It's really that good.

The coaster collection isn't bad either. The Beast and Son of Beast (at times) are outstanding. Top Gun is the best suspended coaster I've been on. Racer is very much a classic. The rest might not stand-out, but they're not bad rides.

Tomb Raider is also top notch. I love that ride.

The park overall is big on atmosphere, in part because the terrain is so diverse and relatively well landscaped.

DELETED! What time does the water show start?

PKI is:
1) An amusement park
2) not work

Do you need another reason?

Ripple Rock Amusement Park

Delirium is easily worth the trip all by itself. I'm not sure I'd go quite as far as calling it the best flatride anywhere (Afterburners and Waltzers come darn close), but it's certainly the hilight so far this season for me, flat-wise.

PKI has a respectable coaster lineup, even if it isn't my favorite.

Yeah, it's been going off all morning on vibrate and felt way too good to stop. Nothing negative, so I'm pretty much out of work for this topic. That's the most action I'll get this week, so I thought I might as well bite while I'm still "up". =p

I ain't even touching this one Danny ;)

But really the 3 best coasters there are AE, FOF, and Top Gun IMO. The park does likley have the greatest line up of Arrows out there. Each is the best of its kind.

Sonny is a phenominal ride but only in 1/3 of the seats, the other 2/3 are simply crap. I fear they are really killing Papa beast but he is still phenominal at night. Recar is a great ride but Racer downright sucks. The park is beautiful and does have a nice collection of rides but as Danny well knows I am just not a big fan.

It's well worth a trip.

That's just 'cause you haven't ridden any of the good ones. :)

Yeah, but I should talk. I haven't ridden Delirium or any of the larger version of the Frisbee. Still, beating a Super Loop on Top, Top Scan, or Jump is a tall order of its own.

Does the sun ever shine at PKI? I'm not sure why, but I have this strong impression beaten into my brow that it's always cloudy and rainy and miserable there.

What do I Listen-To?
I am stereotypical.

No Maddie, the place just makes it feel that way.

It is quite possibly the most claustrophobic park on Earth.

I always forget to mention Flight of Fear. That thing is kicking ass and taking names this year. I'm convinced the launch is as fast as it can go, and there's no mid-course trimming. You get popped hard on the rise to the final brakes and come to a quick stop. The ride is totally out of control.

The FoF at PKI definteily seems to be the better of the two at present....the one at PKD was just plain rough this year....nothing like with OTSRs, but after riding JJ the day before, one spin on PKD's was all I really wanted...

It seems today, that all you see, are violins in movies, and sax on TV....

Agreed Bill, the second half of PKD's FoF just seemed downright odd after riding PKI's and JJ just days prior.

It was actually uncomfortable to be falling sideways after the midcourse.
