Whats Next For Paramount's Carowinds?

They really need to reopen Smurf Island and put some things on it.

A few points to clear up:

Homey G.,

While Drop Zone does cammand massive lines, Freinzoid absolutley doesn't. The lines are alway walk-ons, I have never seen more than 10 people waiting for the ride, and i have never seen the lines out of the row dividers.

Everyone,

Nascar: The Ride is Andrew's (nascartheridein05?) idea of what to supposed hyper should be, with Nascar being so big in Charlotte. (hahaha no). Sorry, kind of an inside joke if ya' know what I mean.

Allow me to clear up :

I said commanded, RCmuzik. When Frenzoid opened, I can remember waiting almost all the way down to Thunder Road. Believe that. I think it was over an hour and a half.

Point being, a flat can still be sold as a thrill ride in place of a coaster. See : PKI and Delerium

Ah, I see. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Yeah i remember frenzoid like that, and yes thrill rides are almost just as good (Delirium). I think as red nekkish as a nascar ride would be it would be fitting for Charlotte. I think a replacement drop zone (taller, holds more peeps, standing maybe) would be awesome, i guess ill keep dreaming ;)
Ha! and now Frenzoid is not open 1/2 the time.

We've already had a Nascar Ride. Anyone Remember Days of Thunder?

I'd like a new flat here or there too. The County Fair section of the park really seems cheezy since the Wild Bull and Whirling Dervish were removed. Maybe Frenzoid will stay around longer than they did.
(At least the removal of Wild Bull was worth it!)

"Grit Your Teeth, Bare The Load, Enjoy your ride, on Thunder Road"

NASCAR anything would be a killer idea for Charlotte. And it is not anymore redneck then drag racing which is not all that red neck either.

Somehtign has sponsors and TV networks clamoring to get on board with the second most popular spectator sport out there. Its not redneck anymore, the likes of Jeff Gordon and Dale EarnhardtJr. have went a long way to change that.

Are you kidding??? Wild Bull was a Bayurn Kurve!! I miss it greatly!

Well, I think he means Wild Bull was worth it because they put part of Top Gun there, but Whirling Dervish was not because they gave it to another park and replaced it with the worst pay attraction of all time.

Oh yeah, that's a walk off challenge my friend.

Exactly. I miss Wild Bull more than Whirling Dervish, but I'd give both of them if it meant another coaster like Top Gun.

"Grit Your Teeth, Bare The Load, Enjoy your ride, on Thunder Road"

Paramount was too cheap to buy another waveswinger for Great America and gave them ours. That pay attraction that took its place isn't even staffed most the time and I've never seen anyone try it.

Carowinds should take a cue from Cedar Point or Kennywood and move rides within the park if the plot of land they are on is needed for a new ride. Then we'd still have Wild Bull,Flying Dutchman,Black Beards Revenge, Black Widow, Whirling Dervish, The kiddie Meteorite(anyone else remember that), both car rides, the Monorail and maybe just maybe White Lightning.

Before anyone pipes in, no rides were ever place where The Oaken Bucket or kiddie Sky Tower were.

Jason the problem with the rapids was that they used custom boats without the standard inner tubes. One day 2 of these boats, one full one empty, got lodged at the top of the waterfall. Another boat struck them and the empty went over the falls. The ride was close the boats changed out the track narrowed and the gaurd rails raised. Also they added more observation stations(most boring job on the ride).

Also when riding if you look in the lake that is right before you encounter the lower part of the water fall you may still see a tube sticking out of the water. This was a fountain that shot an arc of water over the track. It was a real soaker.

When I worked on the ride in 89 none of the effects except the waterfalls in the cave worked. There was an on off button marked effects(gysers) on the control panel but the boss man said not to bother with it nothing worked.

I wish they would just redo the damn effects lol, it wouldnt cost too much and would make a lot of sense. I didnt know about those boats though.

Completley true, I loved The Dervish and they repaced it with a vertical trampoline, why in hell would you pay to jump on a trampoline, even if it IS vertical.

Worst decision EVER! (Comic Book Guy)

Hmm Kiddie Metorite? I remember when Scream Weaver was next to Thunder Road and was called Metiorite, but I don't remember a kiddie one. What's its Story?

I also think our Rapids Ride Sucks on Ice. Its Funny how First Timers wait for two Hours to Get on it, but they come off of it dry.

Kiddie meteorite was located where the kiddie ballon race is now It also was Hanna Barbera themed but I can't memeber how. I want to say Elroy's Space Chase. This was back when the kiddie sky tower was called Scrappy's Sky Tower. Of course it didn't go upside down. It spun slowly and barely lifted of the ground.

Though Nascar: The Ride is partially a joke, I still feel that it would be great for marketing and could be easily themed.... Tim, its HA ha HA ha NO!.... get it right buddy cuz.... lol...... Don't hate on WWF (white water falls) whoever posted that... its literally the only ride in the park that actually soaks riders (excluding the water park which includes NFSS (nick's flying super saturator))..... And by the way, no hyper would fit on Smurf's island... wayyyy to small and uneven.....
Its good to see someone remembers all the great rides and theming Paramount has ripped out of that park. Its now just a mess of poor theming, average coasters, and little flat rides.
I think Carowind's next coaster will be a 200 ft kiddie. Who's with me?

------------------
Is that a Q-bot in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

Nah, I think the next ride for Kiddiewinds will be a kiddie-strata coaster.

Edit: Themed to Wild Thornberry's.

I heard it would be a dueling coaster called The Fairly Odd Parents or Sponge Bob Versus Squidward
