What's new for SFKK in 2007?

I think the spinners are as popular as they're gonna be. A couple installations a year sounds just about right to me.

PS I see what you're saying about the Disk-O but I'm not sure how you know PKI's is larger than SFKK's when SFKK's is still completely hypothetical. *** Edited 7/14/2006 12:14:53 AM UTC by matt.***

Hold on...aren't we forgetting that a Kentucky park *cough BB cough* just south of SFKK already has a spinning mouse?

No...because we're not talking about a Spinning Mouse, we're talking about a Spinning Coaster.
While BB has a spinning mouse, the seating configuration and layout are diffrent. It's just a fun ride, a modest addition at that, and I'm suprised it's not as ubiquitous as boomerangs and SLCs.

Plus, the two parks are in competition with each other... if they were owned by the same chain, it wouldn't make sense for both park to have such similar rides.

The "Spinning Coasters", the Gestlauers and the M-S versions, were going to become more popular regardless of Snyder and Shapiro. (They just moved up the timeline a bit).

Arson asked: "Why isn't it more popular?"
Just came out a few short years ago... ;)

Shapiro loves our park, Chang has a new paint job, we're getting 3-5 family rides to go in and around the top eliminator dragsters area, and something to help SFKK compete in the regional market(08). *** Edited 7/13/2006 10:03:07 PM UTC by mudinthevayne*** *** Edited 7/13/2006 10:33:26 PM UTC by mudinthevayne***

And you know this how?....................

And well hmm based on my rides on Spinning Dragons and Pandemonium, I think I'll gladly take the pink mouse at BB over those. It was TOO much fun at Rumblefest.

I'm guessing a couple new family flat rides. I've also heard rumors of a new kiddie ride that is currently being housed in the picnic grove. Of course I haven't been to the park this year, so I don't know for sure if that's true.

Whatever it is, hopefully it will bring more interest to the park. They could definitely use it. And I think some modern family flats would do exactly that. I just hope they get something that PKI or HW doesn't already have; that would help a lot, IMO.

Right now there are currently two kiddie rides in the boneyard. There were plans to install them this year but they decided to just wait. They plan to turn that little area in between twistid twins an PBR (including TED) into a second LTMT, a lot bigger though. So the path that they've had closed off for a couple of years will open back up so you'll be able to get from twistid twins to T2 and Chang like you used to. I don't know if they will keep the current path (under Thunder Run)open but most likely it will stay open. SFKK will definitely not be getting a Gerstlauer Spinning Coaster.

Been hearing REALLY good things about SFKK's new GM, this is the kind of really GOOD thing that might go unnoticed by some....NOT by everyone... ;)

Getting AROUND the parks without having to walk AROUND the park, that's a big plus! :)

But what about that "something to help SFKK compete in the regional market(08)"? Thats what i'm interested in!

^ My "best guess" at this point is something that would go AWAY from where HW has the market cornered. That means, generally: family flats (Gobbler Getaway, HallowSwings, Antique Car Ride, etc.), wooden coasters, and, of course, waterpark goodies.

You might say "What's that leave for a landlocked park like SFKK that doesn't HAVE the budget to put in a big steelie"?

I've got two possible answers: Spinning coaster, and thrilling flats. More likely than not, I'll be proven wrong. But I still GUESS at the park taking the same direction that *I* would head... ;)

Well, we'll just have to wait and see...

Can I get some help with those abbr.?

^ PBR- Penguin's Blizzard River, spinning raft ride.
TED- Top Eliminator Dragster
LTMT- Looney Tunes somethin' somethin'....LOL!
If they would get another coaster, any chance it would be inherited from a closing SF park? I don't have any specific coaster in mind, just wondering if they might do that again, like last year with some of Astroworld's rides being relocated. *** Edited 7/15/2006 12:07:54 AM UTC by Floorless Fan***

Seems pretty reasonable I suppose, although I'd like to see the park get a custom design that's fairly unique. Last new coaster in '03 was from another SF Park (Greezed Lightnin') and before that the last coaster the park received that was custom built for it was Twisted Twins, and that was back in '98.

Here's to hoping they'll get a custom Gerstlauer?

If, or should I say when they do, it won't be from another park, or Gerstlauer, sorry. But like I stated, next year more family/kid rides will be added to the park so SFKK will move more towards the family friendly side...but you can't just go to specifically adding a certain type of ride for the next 2-3 years. You'd dig yourself a deep hole (e.x. SFWoA). *** Edited 7/15/2006 2:33:53 AM UTC by mudinthevayne***
