What's happening at SFGAm

What's happening at SFGAm?

Construction, I imagine...

But seriously, it's been kind of quiet down there. No announcements yet? Are they planning on any kind of shareholders conference calls in the near future when such announcement might come? Nothing has been posted on the Gurnee Website, so no variances or anything have been applied for...

hmmm...

Well, american Eagle has 1 section missing on the helix. Shock (RIP) is completely deconstructed.

Nothing has really happened. Shockwave is completely gone and apparently not in the parking lot anymore either, and supposedly, a few small supports have been put up. It seems like they're way behind on this construction.

I don't see how they can be way behind in construction, the park doesn't open until May so thats a little over 5 months they have to work on it. Which I think is plenty of time.

Plus, the weather around here has been great for construction. Not too much snow, just kind of chilly.

Also remember that it will not take long to put together the ride itself. Anybody remember how long it took SFoG for their SUF?

du8die, They need to apply for a variance in Gurnee for the new ride because it will be under 125 feet. Also Gurnee would never reject even if they did wait till the last minute to get the variance. SFGAM construction is probably going along nicely. They are probably pouring footers and waiting for them to cure. Once the footers are cured and in place it should only take them 60-90 days to install the supports and track.

The photographer should of went on that hill right by the front gate and taken the pictures. When I was there one day really early with my friends we went on the hill and we could see the shockwave area very well. I think it would be a better angle if the pics were taken from there.

u dont need a height varience for something under 125ft, so that reawlly shouldnt be the problem. they start all their work late at the park it seems...

Surfs up in Hollister, CA! Later Dudes...

I'd say they are right on schedule. Probably start verticle construction in early January.

From what I heard, they already are vertical with some station supports.

Restraining orders are just another way of saying I love you.

How long does it take footers to cure? I heard most of them were poured already, but this just may be a rumor also.
Station supports? Now?

Don't sound so surprised. Did you think they were going to wait until March??

I'll probably get out there next weekend after Gurnee Mills. It looks so empty without Shockwave...:(

Very much agreed. I drove past the park yesterday and the skyline looked so empty. S:UF won't be able to fill that gap. After seeing the skyline with out Shock Wave I ALMOST wished Whizzer had gone instead...

Of course they weren't going to wait until March. What, do you think I am stupid or something?

No, I don't think you're stupid. You just seemed surprised that they started construction, and I don't really know why anyone would be surprised at that. They had to start eventually.
