What's Hangin' From Your Tree?

Kinda unrelated.... has PKI been selling any type of amusement park related orniments for their Winterfest?
Gee, all I have is a Twister and a generic Knoebels' ornament, a few from Hershey (but they're more chocolate related than park oriented) and my $0.75 budget special from Idlewild-- I call it a "foil" ornament with the park name and a carousel horse suspended inside.

Except when I opened it up, the horse wasn't suspended-- it was separated. So THAT'S why it was only 75 cents. So now I have this little foil oval saying Idlewild Park on my tree.

Another ornament that Cbuzzers may like is my little Yuengling Black and Tan can ornament.

They have WinterFest ornaments, but only one style that I saw, however I haven't been in every gift shop yet.

In the Emporium on I-Street, it's current all outside vendors, called Crafters Village. They have a TON of non-park-related ornaments of various kinds.

Mostly generic glass balls, but I have one nice Kennywood Racer ornament that LoriU gave me for Christmas a few years ago. Now that I finally caved and actually set up a tree, I'll have to start looking for stuff.

Well, since I'm going to DW next week I'll look around there for some ornaments. Our tree is pretty traditional ornament-wise, (the exception would be 5-6 hockey ornaments my wife and I have collected).

I like the Nostalgiacards on the GH site, and most of the ornaments on there. The only thing is, I haven't ridden any of those coasters, so I would feel a little weird putting them on my tree!

S&D has to bring back their calendars next year!...but the ACE calendar will get me by this year.

Now officially a Halloween Haunt Cornstalker for Fall '08! www.freewebs.com/chadmicah
While @ WDW this year I looked for some good Disney themend Xhristmas stuff, especially a tree topper (since our cake topper was Mick & Min). No luck though. However, I do have a "1st Christmas" ornament with two bears in a swan boat in a "Tunnel of Love". That's a "amusement park" related as it gets.

I've got a Michigan's Adventure ornament (from the last year they were independent of CP), a Millennium Force ornament, and new this year is a blown glass ornament from Holiday World.

I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead

First, let me say that my wife and I are enthusiasts, and we believe that the best Christmas trees are those that are decorated to the owners personal style -- even if it's tacky.

Here are a few of the not-so-Christmassy ornaments hanging from our tree:

  • Hersheypark (painted clay ornament - two bears riding in a roller coaster train - looks crafty)
  • Knoebels Grove Phoenix and Twister (brass ornaments, very detailed, classy)
  • Kennywood Phantom's Revenge (brass ornament, similar to Knoebels)
  • a silver medialion we created for wedding keepsakes - it has a cute couple riding a wooden coaster.
  • a couple Betty Boop ornaments, including at least one from Universal IOA.
  • Disney's Magic Kingdom attractions (Splash Mountain, Dumbo, Cinerella's Golden Carousel, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, Peter Pan's Flight, Mad Tea Party -- each is a ride vehicle with riders - Mickey and Minnie are riding Dumbo, but the other attraction stars are in their own vehicles)
  • Disneyworld Parks - iconic symbols from each park (Spaceship Earth for Epcot, Cinderella's Castle for Magic Kingdom, Mickey's hat for Disney-MGM Studios, and The Tree of Life for Animal Kingdom. These are well done -- there are +12 carved animals on the 2" Tree of Life.)
  • Mickey Through the Years (5 or 6 different Mickey Mouse characters)
  • Disney Villians (Evil Queen from Sleeping Beauty, Evil Queen from Snow White, the Sea Witch from Little Mermaid, Jaffar from Aladin, and Captain Hook from Peter Pan)
  • Nightmare Before Christmas characters (includes Jack the Pumpkin King and several other morbid characters - placed beside cuties like Betty Boop or Cinderella for the shock effect)
  • Stitch - lurking around the back
  • Winnie the Pooh ornaments and one string of Pooh-themed lights

We have other friends who also enjoy theme parks. But their tree is much more tasteful, decorated mostly with red and gold mickey-shaped balls (the ones that consist of a large ball, plus two smaller balls, together resembling iconic mouse-ears: °o°). Some are glass, and some are metal mesh, but all are very tasteful.

LOL, at the nightmare before xmas stuff beside cutesy stuff. I have friends who decorate their tree half disney/half dead. The disney half is all cutesy disney stuff. The dead half is all skulls and such including nightmare before xmas. Talk about a shock factor first time I saw the tree I did a double take and the woman who decorates the tree laughed hysterically.

BTW my tree so far only has two coaster ornaments on it (Twister and Phoenix from Knoebels) but that is sure to grow when I go hunting in parks more and more for ornaments. It is a tree that represents me. Most of my friends look at it and laugh and say they can tell why each ornament hangs from the tree.

Some notables are a monopoly board, a School House Rock Conjunction Junction ornament that sings the song, Many movie/cartoon/comic ornaments (garfield, shrek, lion king and such) Sports ornaments for the teams I like and tons of computer ornaments. *** Edited 12/19/2005 5:14:15 PM UTC by dragonoffrost***

Swoosh, you didn't mention to them that this years Silver Dollar City All City ornament is the best one yet. It is the Wildcat Ornament. You would of had to make a visit to all 3 Branson Area parks to get this one. If you didn't you have to wait until next Years Christmas Festival where you can buy it for $10.

PS: This thread made it on ANR&R.

I am too lazy to put up a tree by myself. The cats would have it "un-decorated" in no time. ;-)

I have a roaring Godzilla ornament that lights up. (How many of you have that?!)

I have two Silverwood ornaments (Tremors and Timber Terror), and the Polar Coaster ornament which many of you probably have.

I also have Bumbles as the angel tree topper, and other Bumble ornaments.

Moose and smores character ornaments, an ice snowman, and homemade wood ornaments my husband's father made. Oh, and Multi-colored balls, white lights, red bows and pink tinsel.

Stormtrooper. :D
I dont have any coaster ornaments, but i have a really sweet KISS ornament that sings rock n roll all night. Its pretty much the coolest ornament ever.
I have THREE Trees to Hang Ornamants from.

The First one is the Family Tree, and the only Amusement Park Ornamant on it is one from Michigan's Adventure.

The Second Tree is my Hallmark Tree, which has EVERY STAR TREK Ornament ever created (Including the COVETED 1991 Enterprise Ornament :) I also have the 2003 "Polar Coaster" Ornament on it.

The third tree is the Smallest One but its LOADED with Amusement Park Keychains I've purchases at the Parks I've Visited. (Keychains make TERRIFIC Ornaments since all you have to do is put the branch through the metal ring! This Tree is also Garlanded with Mardi Gras Beads I've Salvaged from the beach here in Daytona after Bike Week and Spring Break! (Heaven only knows what Dasterdly Deeds they were used for, but now that there in my clutches they're on Christmas Tree Duty!:) *** Edited 12/27/2005 11:17:20 PM UTC by Borntocoast***

I have the Polar Coaster ornament from a few years back, but the lightset that powered it went bad. None of other lights on our tree will power it. So, hopefully I can find a lightset that it'll work with, and if I act soon, I can probably get if for dirtcheap.

The only Trek ornament I have is the 2002 Nemesis Scorpion, I need to start Ebaying for others I guess.

Yahoo, I made ARN&R... at least the title of a topic I started did. :) *** Edited 1/3/2006 6:19:20 PM UTC by RatherGoodBear***
Good Luck with the Polar Coaster ornament. I tried four different light sets and the plug wouldn't fit the socket on any of them.
Let's see, I have a 2001 "This is the Start of Something Big!" ornament from Disney World. I think that that is about it. I have an innocent pine tree also. :)

CP was amazing, going back next June to ride Maverick
