Whats going to happen to SFGA in the next few year

Ok, I know I just wrote something about, credit and all, but really though, Whats going to happen to this park in a few years?? Ok, they always talk about this waterpark.. well, it was supposed to go up in 2000, as I remembered, when I worked there in '97'. And there is nooo room at all, in the whole park! What kind of roller coasters can they get? The park cant keep taking any more rides out, its getting old doing that.. What will they do? Im thinking maybe put another ride in the parking lot? like the Shockwave? Or they should have that land , where that lil lake is on the side.. Or shouldnt they just buy the land across the street, on Washington, and maybe the people living there, they can all figure it out,,?? Theres soo much land across there,, and Great America is really just outta room,, It is packed! I wonder what they are gonna do in the future? How is the park gonna keep all these people going if they cant add something, I know the crowds are much smaller now..
Six Flags owns a whole bunch of land, and I am sure that eventually, when the time comes, they will expand. On the Iron Wolf, look to the left, you'll see a bunch of land owned by Six Flags. There is more land then ya think. I wouldn't be surprised if in the next few years, instead of investing in new rides, they invested in making more noise walls around more land they own so they can expand. Moving into the parking lot is also a possibility because those second parking lots behind the first, could easily hold cars from all the patrons. But I don't think that would happen.

I also forgot about the picnic grove. Theres room there too

Good topic. I was wondering the same thing myself the other day. There is a little room behind Roaring Rapids and between Roaring Rapids and Theatre Royale. They could expand behind Shockwave onto that little lake, but that might be to close to home. They could expand behind Raging Bull and Viper into the parking lot, but I think they need all the parking space they can get. There is a little room near Picnic Grove and Iron Wolf, but not alot. I don't know where they can make another large attraction without taking something else out.

Well, rumor is that Whizzer won't be around much longer. Maybe they'll take that down and put in something new and state-of-the-art. I think an indoor coaster of some sort would be cool.
My suggestion: Tear down the Demon. That ride offers nothing (except, I guess, for the fact that it was one of the park's original rides).
If you wanna see how much room SFGAm has with your own eyes, head on over to http://terraserver.homeadvisor.msn.com/default.asp and search Gurnee. Click the 98' map and you should see the SFGAm parking lot in the lower right hand corner.

If I ever hear talk about tearing down the demon or whizzer again I'll go bazerk on all of you!
both are GREAT rides. SFGAmerica owns a good amount of land surrounding the park that is not in use at all. I think they would've torn down the skywhirl whether they had a coaster to replace it with or not... since it was so old. I do not believe it was a space problem. The whizzer rumor was just that... a rumor... it was also said that it will be around for years to come. it is the last of it's kind and I hope it stays. You all will be tired of rollercoasters when they're all monopolized by B&M and are all the same.

I really hope the Whizzer stays. I was thinking before, what if they replaced it with a 10 inversion floorless. I would have very mixed emotions. I love the Whizzer! It is such a classic. But then again, a 10 inversion floorless...Yum,Yum! I came to the conclusion that I would rather have the Whizzer. Maybe they could put the floorless somewhere else.

Thanks for the link Krazy!!!

SFGAm has less land then I thought. The parking lot is bigger than the park. So they should expand into the parking lot.
