Whats going on at Hershey Park?

The other day during our 17 hour drive to New York City we decided to pull over and sleep. Well, we found a really nice Holiday Inn in Hershey, PA. So I decided I wanted to see Hershey Park. When driving past the park towards downtown, I noticed they were building something running paralell to the road behind the shoot the chutes water ride and next to Lighting Racer. It looks to be the beams for a roller coaster, I believe they were white in color and looked kinda thick. I havent heard any announcement, have any of yall?

IS THERE A BETTER PARK THAN HOLIDAY WORLD??

Yes! Go to hersheypark.com and look up "new for 2002"

BTW: the ride is called 'Roller Soaker'

I was just by there Saturday, and they do have a lot of the supports up. I still didn't see any track pieces set in place yet, but it won't be too long. It will definately be ready for opening day. As it looks they are ahead of, or right on schedule. My excitement level for that coaster is about the same as when they installed The Sidewinder(Boomerang.) Actually I was probably more excited about that. ;) I was wishing for that B&M hyper that I have been hearing so much about. At least they are getting a new coaster. Can't really complain about that.
Hershey's putting up a water coaster for the 2002 season, called Roller Soaker. But, I thought it was already up? I live 30 minutes from Hershey, and I remember a story about the first riders on it who won a contest by naming it. Anyone else know about this?

Its not a water coaster like Buzzsaw Falls or Atlantis.  Its a Super Saturator.  PC has one.  And yes, Roller Soaker is the winning name.

From what I understand, Atlantis and Buzzsaw Falls are called "liquid coasters" and water coasters are usually found at waterparks. I know The Beach across from PKI has one called Aztec Adventure, I believe.

The entire ride is delivered, and being assembles. It is ahead of schedule. The 4 passenger cars are great. There are no plans for a B&M Hyper, and I bet I ride the Rollersoaker before anyone else on this page does. I will let you all know how it was.
Where have you been?

The winner of the name contest is going to get first ride, not has already ridden it.

Rollercoasters are my life, I think about them more than I think about....wait, thats all I think about :)
Yes, they will get to be on the first 'public' ride, but that ride will be running a lot earlier for industry folks.
Agent Johnson always has the inside tips. When are they building a hyper, and if its not a B&M what kind?
They have no plans on the books for a hyper. Hersheypark is part of the whole Hershey Entertainment and Resorts empier. Next on their is a re-opening of Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster, Pa, after a several million dollar upgrade. Then, in the fall, the $70 million dollar Giant Arena opens at the West side of the parking lot.

Hersheypark is focusing on the 'resort' aspect of the whole mini vacation lifestyle, like Cedar Point and Morey's Piers. While a hyper would be great, its not needed to survive

So, if there is no hyper (I agree, Hershey does not need it to survive), what do you think their next "move" will be?  I know its kind of early, since their new coaster hasn't even opened yet, but never too early to start fantasizing about what direction they will head in next!
There was talk about developing into the down town area of the town, but that sort of dropped from the news.

Personally, I have no idea where they will head next.  However, I am not expecting anything major for the next few years.  2007 will be their centenial.  I would expect that to be their next big year.
