What would you pay per ride

I just got back from a trip to Wisconsin Dells and rode the 3 coasters at Big Chiefs which overall are pretty nice rides. But to the point of this post.

Big Chiefs has 3 ways to pay for their rides: $5.50 per ride, $20.00 for 4 rides (small discount) or $32.00 for an unlimited rides pass that's valid for 6 hours. I think the cost at Big Chiefs is completely out of line but, that aside, I did start to wonder, what would you be willing to pay per ride for your favorite coasters?

I'm hard pressed to decide how much I would pay. Five dollars seems to be a lot but what would be a fair price?

I'm planning to go to Big Chief's this Saturday, but I am skeptical about paying $32 to ride three coasters. I'm going to do it anyway, since I've heard nothing but good things about these rides.

From the slant of your post, I get the idea that you may not have thought that it was worth what they charge. If you are there for 6 hours, can you get your money's worth?

To the point of your post: I think I would be willing to pay up to $4 or $5 for my favorite rides if that was the only option offered by the park, but I probably would do less riding that way. *** This post was edited by chris on 7/5/2001. ***
I would pay $30 for a ride on MF. I would pay $15 for a ride on The Incredible Hulk. I would pay $8 to go on something that is good, but I haven't ridden yet. I would pay about $4 to go on a ride like Magnum XL-200 or RB because I have been on both.

Batman rides:42
I would pay lot's and lot's to ride Raging Bull, but since that is included in park admission, I'm not going to complain ;) Sure Big Chief's has a high price zone, but now you know how the people from rct feel, lol!

I would say, yes you probably could. This price includes the coasters and go-karts so if you do both you might feel better about the cost.

Most of the lines we saw were short except for Zeus. The wait was about 20 minutes for this ride. Which doesn't seem like much but considering the other coasters were walk-ons, 20 minutes was long. I didn't do the passes because I had my 2 kids with me and I couldn't afford $96 for 3 passes and buying the individual ride tickets would have been worse.

Be careful when you buy the pass because they have a Day Pass and a Night Pass. The Day Pass is only valid until 5pm and the Night Pass is good from 5pm to closing. So don't buy a Day Pass too soon before 5pm or you won't get your money's worth.

Thanks for the tips!
When I was at Big Chief's, I thought it was expensive too. After the coasters, it was worth it. Maybe it was because they were all walkons, so we got tons of rides in, and they didn't care that I had the seat belt and lap bar as loose as they could be.

But do not complain about Big Chief's prices, it's Wisconsin Dells! It's Wisconsin's Tourist Trap City! Every state (except Idaho, only potatoes there) has at least one city like it, and you can't go and buy a single egg roll at a chinese place in those towns for less than 3 bucks, much less ride any amusment rides for less than 20.

Things are rough all over. Hey, if the rides are walk-ons, they have to pay for their investments somehow. Besides, $32 ain't that bad. I pay that much to go to PGA (with a coupon), and end up only riding about 3 roller coasters anyway.

Forget about it. It can't be THAT bad!
I certainly wouldn't pay those prices for long lines... I love the POP admission.

Depends on other prices, I think. I wouldn't be willing to pay so much if I still had to pay for parking and a nominal fee for park entrance. But if parking and entrance were free, than $4-5 doesn't sound so bad, and I like the idea of having armbands or bigger passes you can buy like normal entrance admissions.

Jephry, what job do you have that you could afford that! :) Wow! I'd only be able to go on one ride at those prices!

Some of you people must be rich if you are willing to pay $30 for one ride!
By the way, what are the three coasters at Big Chief's?
That's really dumb to pay $30 for one ride, when that is almost the price of a ticket to the WHOLE darn park.

They are in order of size from smallest to largest: Pegasus, Cyclops and Zeus. They're all good coasters.

There's also a small kiddie coaster called Little Titans.
