What will become of Double Loop- WoA?

Friday, August 10, 2001 1:31 PM
Rumors are getting stronger on Double Loop getting take out. If so, what will happen to the coaster? Scrapped, sent to another park, etc? Does anyone besides me enjoy this coaster as a break from B:KF?

I'd like it as a break from Serial Thriller before Batman... ;)

Double Loop was the very first looping coaster I ever rode back in 1977. I have not been to SFWoA since it lost the name Geauga Lake, but I would guess that only the Big Dipper and RWB would remain from the original GL. In fact, really only BD would remain, as RWB is from the dismal 80's version of GL.

It would be sad to lose an original ride for some SF cookie cutter clone. SF has taken the originality out of parks.

The real factors will be the GP, maintenance, and of course "better" use of the space.

I remember first going to Geuga Lake and being completely mesmorized by the Double Loop. In fact, I went on the Antique Cars just to snap some pictures of the ride. I feel bad for it now. DL used to be the ride at the lake, now it's a mere shadow of it's orignal self. Maybe the ride has gotten a little less exciting for us Coasterbuffs these days, but darn if every time I go to ride it, the line is still past the steps up to the platform. Double Loop has found a spot in the SFWoA lineup, the bridging coaster if you will. It's not one of the big guns like Batman or Villain, yet it's not a kiddie coaster. Let the Double Loop stand and continue to bring more kids up to the big leagues just like it did for me. God Bless you Double Loop! (OK well maybe I'm not that passoniate about the ride, but still...)

I really enjoyed this ride when I went to WoA for the first time earlier this year. I hope that they don't take it out. It is one of the smoothest early loopers that I have been on (probably because there are no corkscrews).

I think that it is very important for parks to have this type of moderate coaster that is inbetween a family coaster and a large, very exciting coaster. WoA only has 2 such moderate coasters, and if this coaster is gone, there will only be 1 left. ( I don't consider RWB to be a moderate coaster..that tears you up)

LOL! It just cracks me up how people get all upset and huffy and puffy over a "rumor". I don't think DL is going anywhere right now.

What SF cookie cutter ride is Six Flags Worlds of Adventure missing? They have a boomerang, a suspended looping coaster, and the "next-generation clone," a Flying Dutchman. (Edit: They also have another next-gen clone, an Intamin Impulse [but that's a good thing ;)].)

Like John Peck said: They have no reason to take it out.

I agree. The Double Loop doesn't take up that much room, and I don't see why it needs to be taken out. I personally enjoyed it, but I am a sucker for all coasters, especially classic Arrows.

Yes bigkirby, it is my favorite coaster there next to Villain. There is so much history there......I am so proud of them for painting it and giving it new life. The tunnel adds an unbelievable amount of enthusiasm for the ride......I have never heard so many positive responses as I do now.......what a fun ride it is, not to mention the perfect "starter" for kids once they have challenged Roadrunner. I also commend them for the added theming around that area of the park. It really helps.

Thanks for everyone's support of these rare and fast vanishing classic Arrows!!! :D

Well, we can certainly see some opinions here... I've only been on the coaster once, back at Geauga Lake ('97, I think...), but it wasn't all that bad, and it's incredibly compact (if memory serves, which it doesn't always). It will probably be around for awhile, considering the investments that have already been put into that park and the entire chain. Give it another few years, then perhaps the next big investment (whatever that might be, but probably it won't be next year) will affect it. Or then again maybe it won't. Who knows! That's what rumors are for.
