What we should DEMAND of Geauga Lake...

Thrillerman from a local Geauga webpage...

Geauga County has 408 square miles with a 2000 population of 90,895. It is named from the local native American word for “raccoon“.
... interesting. All these years I knew how to say it, but I never knew what it meant. I have never heard anything different than gee-AW-ga. I have heard either KY-uh-HOE-guh or KY-uh-HOG-uh. *** Edited 3/20/2004 2:07:02 AM UTC by coasterzak***

Do y'all think Cedar Fair has enough time to change all the Six Flags signs and rename any copywrighted coasters by the start of the season, or is this to be an ongoing effort throughout the season? The only activity I noticed when driving home from KSU today was at the Superman ride, where there were a couple large construction vehicles.

Zar,

If CF has anything to do with it all sixflags theming and names will be gone by opening day. They probally allready have the merchindise for the new Geuage lake on its way. It will be alot of work but they will get it done. Hell sixflags incorp. is so cheap i bet alot of the ride names on the cars are just window clings.

All SFI names WILL be gone before the park opens, CF has NO reason to want to go to court over something *so* simple.

They COULD just *cheap it out* and remove the "trademarked portion" of the names...then go about serious work in the upcoming off-season...

Or is that when they're removing all the coasters to send to other CF parks....KIDDING!

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

I wish that Cedar Fair get the WWW.GeaugaLake.com

wed site up and going with prices and the new names on some of the coasters.

I am going to visit Geauga Lake this june to see the changes from a SF park to a CF park.

It really shouldn't be impossible. Remember that the old SWO was converted to "WOA" in just a little more time. Even if it was half-assed, there were no more Shamus anywhere.
Actually, there are STILL Shamus up there if you know where to look. Well, maybe they're really Shoukas...

(Hint: Look down...)

I drove by about a week ago to catch some of the action. Not a whole lot is going on but I got some pics of the new support on S:UE and the retrackings. Let me know if you want to see them.
I see that they finally got started on the Wolf Kabobs. Only thing is, they are only fixing the bottom of the first drop. The whole first half of the coaster was supposedly slated for retracking this off season?? That is gonna be a big surprise for Cedar Fair when they first try to run/ride it. But then again, when I think about the Mean Squeak...maybe not!!

The way SFWoA trains their employees and the way an employee feels about their job is totally different. SFI and the upper SFWoA management (who are from SFI) did a lot of bad things to that park as their main objective was to cut costs. Seasonal employees might know some if it, full time employees know all of it. "Oh, just because that bolt is bent, doesn't mean we need to replace it, we'll just wait for it to break, gotta save money everywhere we can." That is why a maintenance man walked off the job, couldn't believe how things were being run. Talk to any former Sea World and old Geauga Lake employee that is still working at SFWoA/The New GL, they’ll set you straight on the miss-management. I really don’t mean to sound anti-SF, but I have a problem with a company that has done some of the things SFI has.

That is why I say CF will do wonders to this park. The care for their employees, they care for their patrons! How else do you have one of the most popular parks in the world?

I think we should "demand" to have the picnic area back. Taking a family of 6 to the park can get quite expensive. We ALWAYS took a cooler for the kids which we kept in the picnic area with the adults and smaller kids who wouldn't or couldn't ride all day. I heard they have a picnic and pavilion area outside of the park. What sense does that make????? I won't go back until I can bring my cooler.
The picnic area by the Villain is reopened. It is access from outside the park. No outside food or drink is permittied.

I was up there today to exchange my pass and I overheard about the picnic area. I think that is great that they are opening that back up. I also think it is better now that it is accessible from outside of the park.

Side note: Just about everything that says "Six Flags" is gone. The only thing I saw was in the parking lot was a sign they had up for the Halloween event they had and the Coke oasis thing by the former Superman ride, was still there. I think it is a Pepsi park now. Other than that, I didn't see anything stating Six Flags, except a sign at that new shopping center across the street that said "Six Flags parking prohibited" :)

We still have a sign in the parking lot?

I just got my Valleyfair! season pass and the back says "This pass is valid for admission to any Cedar Fair amusement park (waterparks excluded) during regular park hours excluding special events and private parties." I think I know what I am going to demand of GL when I go. ;)
It was just a paper one right in the very front of the parking lot. The sign that looks like a road billboard. It was torn up and just about gone, but you could still see that it was for the Six Flags Haloween event.

They didn't get all of the Six Flags signs. Take a ride by the maintance shed over on the ride side and you'll see it still has a big Six Flags Ohio logo on the building.

Plus, the Wild Life side still has a SFWoA logo on the main gate, plus character flags in the parking lot. Those will probably get removed this off season. So sad to see all the Coke stuff sitting in the parking lot :( .

I had emailed the park about 2 weeks ago about the Read to Succeed program tickets. I got an automated reply that they would get back to me soon. Well, 2 weeks later and no reply. So, I went back to the web site under "questions" and found they had updated to include the following:

My child participated in the Six Flags Read to Succeed program and was awarded a certificate. Can it be used at Geauga Lake?

  • Cedar Fair, L.P., and Geauga Lake management have made the decision to honor the Six Flags Read to Succeed program at Geauga Lake any operating day beginning Saturday, May 1 through Friday, June 25, 2004. Please contact your school on ticket distribution because Geauga Lake will not accept the actual Read to Succeed vouchers.
Thank you Cedar Fair! ! ! ! ! !
Smart move even though they should have chosen to honor these in the first place.

Bad media coverage can do wonders I guess.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

I wonder they will change the signs on the interstate and US 422 ? Every time I go to Geauga Lake I look for Six Flags highway sign on US 422 going east.
