What Parks should Cedar Fair Buy

Personally coming from being a bought up park, Cedar Fair should STOP buying parks. I dont want any other small parks to fall under what I BELIEVE to be the aweful reign of Cedar Fair. We had a wonderful little park, it was clean, we got a good flat ride just about every year and a good multi million thrill ride every few years, the employees where trained well (there is a difference I went through both programs of training), not half of the light bulbs where burnt out and the park management cared more about the park then about getting back to Cedar Point.
I would hate to see that happen to Magic Springs, Visionland, no let them keep their private ownership. However, since Ive heard Elitch Gardens is getting worse every year I would say it might be better for the good of the park if Cedar Fair did buy them. Just my opinions.

PS. To hothitz, Orient Express three trains and can run three trains (however I agree sometimes SF has trouble running 1 WELL). It has not run three trains since the early 90's. Lets not go into training, I have personal experience that tells me it has gone way down hill. Lets not even go into the park cleanliness bit. Used to be SFSL was the armpit of Missouri and Worlds of Fun was the highlight. Now they have switched places.

how bout they buy out disney. just imagine how many great coasters they could put in instead of a 150 million ride like indiana jones.

but seriousy i think jazzland
I think they should buy Jazzland. If not, it may end up closing which would be bad, because they have a CCI WOODY!!

The only caveat I would like to add is that if the choice is between Magic Springs or Visionland closing their doors or being brought by CF, I would have to go with them being part of CF. I have noticed that quite a few people feel the same way you do about the way CF has run WOF and I wish I had gotten up to WOF before the Zinger was removed:(

I dont think that Cedar Fair would buy out Kennywood, because they are their own corporation, kennywood entertainment. And besides, do you think the henningers would sell out to someone. I heard a rumor a few years ago that six flags wanted to buy out kennywood, but they were turned down. But if someone had to buy out kennywood, cedar fair would probably be the best choice, but i dont forsee it happening.

I think it would be nice for CF to buy Americana Amusement Park. Add a couple of CCI or GCI woodies, and some flatrides. Ohio has three "mega-parks" but not really any small family parks since Americana has been closed. If they bought it and expanded with 2 or 3 woodies maybe a small steel, and flatrides and keep the family owned feel it'll be great.

"cedar fair should buy SANTA CRUZA BEACH BOARD WALK!!!! so it can be a clone of CEDAR POINT wich is next to a LAKE SANTA CRUZ BEACHBOARDWALK is next to the pacific ocean"

i have been to SCBB and there is like no room for and expansion and anyway i like it to be a small seaside park i dont want comercialism involed. also the park doesnt own all of the retail on the boardwalk so they would have to negotiate with all of the retailers. *** This post was edited by hypersonic on 2/24/2001. ***
Several people mentioned Hersheypark. It may be an indie park but it probably doesn't need any financial help at all. Afterall besides Hershey Foods they have several high-profile sponsors such as Matchbox Cars and Blue Cross & Blue Shield.
To Jimbo I agree if there was a choice between Visionland and Magic Springs closing I would rather have Cedar Fair buy them then watch another park be eaten up by grass and saplings. (Ive seen fairyland an old KC park and its very sad). Ive heard that Visionland is having trouble and might close, but I doubt Magic Springs will be in any danger of closing, I mean it just opened last year! I was there for Media Day and I thought it was a wonderful little park. For anybody interested I think Jeff is planning his regional ACE event (Region 18) for Magic Springs this year.... :)

Cedar Fair wouldn't buy a park in a market it already has a park in, so that cuts out most of what you folks have suggested.

Yes, Jennifer, we get it, for the thousandth time you surfaced to tell us what a mess Cedar Fair has made of your beloved park. Can we just move on now?

I think Agent Johnson has the right idea. They've got one out west, one east, and several dotted about the midwest. Time for some fun in the sun.

Incidentally, the analysts really beat them up on their last conference call about the stock price as it relates to growing the business overall. I thought that was a bit unfair considering the water park acquisitions. I know that as someone who received thousands in tax-free dividends (God bless the LP), I'm not complaining!
