I was looking at pictures of this and it looks like a wild mouse. Can someone tell me what kind of roller coaster it is and if it is good or bad, woth waiting for etc.? Thanks!

It's not a mouse. It's a portable coaster designed by Schwarzkopf that has individual cars somewhat like mouse, but doesn't have a mouse's tight flat turns. It's the same basic type of compact coaster that you often see a beach amusement parks.
The Wildcat is a Schwarzkopf coaster with a design that dates back to 1968 (although Cedar Point's ride was installed in 1979). Individual four-passenger cars, and the highest G-loads of any ride in the park if I remember correctly.
Well worth a ride, but beware of its 800 PPH capacity.

A very well designed ride. It does an awful lot in a very small foot print. I appreciate the ride more and more every year, but like Rideman says the capacity isn't good so choose your time well.
Wildcat is a good coaster for "beginners" but is still a lot of fun for enthusiasts like us :) I never miss it when going to CP, but try to hit it when line is short (if queue is full--be prepared to wait 30-60 minutes though!)
It is a lot of fun but you should ride it first or last because the line usually is to long. Its a good ride to start with before you go to Millennium Force.
There is a little dip at the top of the first hill that is very unexpected and is very fun.
LoL wildcat is a rush actually , it goes about 40 thats a lot for such a small ride. But i'd say a max. of 20 min. is worth waiting for
post 97 ! tryin to hit 100 tonight

What I forgot to say is that looks are deceiving. The Wildcat is NOT a garden-variety Zyklon or Galaxi. It is a bigger ride than any Zyklon or Galaxi (well, the largest Zyklon, the one that Dorney Park used to have, is about the same size). And it's a much wilder ride.
If you're not much of a coaster rider...if you are a coaster neophyte...it is NOT a good beginner coaster. Beginning coaster nuts would be much better to start with Blue Streak, Iron Dragon, or Mine Ride. I've seen people start with Wildcat and decide not to go any further!

In fact, the Wildcat that is at the Point now is the second one that they have owned. The original one is now at Valleyfair. Yes they are a wicked little ride. Anton could sure build them!
The air down every drop is amazing. The final helix is very intense. What I find most interesting is that the true first drop is a ways from the lift.

Wildcat is pretty cool and smooth, but be aware that this ride closes early during the light show and that the area gets extremely congested. Make sure you ride it early on. I believe it does reopen after the light show though.

I could disagree with that comment.
But no, WildCat is not a good coaster for a beginner, it is really intense. The drops are really steep, the turns are fast, and the final brake run is too sudden. The car basically comes to a complete stop without slowing down.
I would say to start out with Iron Dragon, Gemini, or Millennium Force.

What was the difference between CP's first and second Wildcats?

Wildcat is a lot of fun, with sharp drops and dips and some great speed for what looks unimpressive at first. A great ride! Be aware that with only 4 riders per vehicle, the line moves very slowly -- so be prepared or be early! But if you have the time, definately a must-ride. (But I'd say that about any coaster, because they all have their good points... :))

I think that the Wildcat and Gemini are CP's little unknown gems. Hidden behind the fame of the big guys, both of these are great rides. The Wildcat has very sudden dips (nearly all of which give you that stomach-in-throat feeling) and a couple of intense helixes that throw you against the sides of the cars. Yep, it sure feels MUCH faster than 40 mph too. Definitely worth a ride, but like others have said, beware of the low capacity.

Coasters...the best natural buzz available.
In the wildcat station, they have a sign that I find funny..."Be Prepared For Sudden Stops."

Everytime I ride Wildcat I get off thinking, "Man, I wish I had that thing in my backyard! There's room, now where can I get one!"

Its a nice smooth coaster with good drops and fast helixes. The ending is a jerking stop, as it breaks directly coming out of the final helix. Its basically a figure 8 type path like the galaxi, but seems like it may have one more bigger drop, but less revolutions on the helix if i remember correctly (been a while since i rode a galaxi).
Wildcat is one of my favorite rides. I just wish the capacity wasn't so poor.
Are there any other semi-permanent Wildcat installations in the US?

Thanks for your help everyone. I rode it last week. It was fun. I had my car all to my self and I sat in the front. I only went on it once because the line was always pretty long and it had low capacity.
