what is the most rough arrow coaster?

Good catch CPgenius, LOL! Back on topic...

The roughest of all 6 Arrow coasters I've been on, I would have to say the Corkscrew at Cedar Point. I thought that the Magnum was rather smooth. It had that nice, over-greased gritty feeling that I like for some reason. Same with Mine Ride, and Gemini.

Arrows are not ROUGH. Each ride runs well and smooth, stays on their track very well and dosent shake you around.

HOWEVER.... many people mistake VIOLENCE for roughness. Desperado is very violent with its transitions, Shockwave and GASM have a nice SMACK to them, Phantom had a very violent turn, and Corkscrew gives a nice unsuspecting SLAP after the first hill.

So yes, Arrow coasters can beat you up a bit, but the lines are always long and healthy.

Arrow also give a more of a Whippy ride as opposed to the powerful smoothness of newer steel coasters.
I agree with John Peck. The ride itself, at least on Viper, is very smooth. You do get whacked around a bit, but that is you in the car, not the car on the track. The ride is quite smooth, actually.
While I love B&M's and Intamins and all the other newer smooth steel coasters out there, I will always love Arrows for being so ferocious. I believe that Arrows are MUCH more intense than any B&M (with possible exception of Mantis) I've ridden. Yes, they do smack you around a bit, but that often accompanies insane thrills (like the turn before the midcourse brakes on PKI's Vortex - It hurts, but it is very intense and exceptionally thrilling).

Coasters...the best natural buzz available.
Although I haven't been on a ton of Arrow coasters... the roughest of them all would have to be Corkscrew, and that isn't saying much. The only real rough portion is the first camel hump...

...I really still wonder what they were thinking when they put that in there. Don't they realize that it's bad design to put in a hump on a ride with horse collars?? If only CP would replace that w/ another loop or just straighten it out... that'd make it perfect!

I'm I the only one who likes the camelhump on CP Corkscrew, I like the airtime opposed to another loop, and I don't really think it is painful.

Get wrapped in the coils of Viper at SFGAm.
What kinda air-time do you get when you're locked in with horse-collar restraints? Not too pleasant air-time IMO.

Air-time was made for woodies & hypers where there are minimum restraints so you can feel like you are lifted off the seat out of the train...

...you just don't get that kind of sensation on a coaster with restraints that restrict you to the point of being able to only wiggle your wrists and move your head up or down.
I didn't think the CP Corkscrew was too bad at all. I loved the first camel hump. It's a little violent, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The Magnum was a little rough, but as Soggy pointed out, if the ride doesn't have OSRs, it can't be too bad.
I think the Shockwave at SFGAm is pretty terrible.

By the way, if you think the camel hump on the Corkscrew is bad, try the top of the second hill on PKI's Vortex(which, although quite violent, is my favorite part of the ride :)) on for size.
The roughest Arrow I have ever been on was probably the Steel Phantom, even though I didn't mind the roughness. I don't see why everyone dislikes the camel hump on CP's Corkscrew so much, I think it is the best part of the ride. I know the purpose of the coaster isn't to provide airtime, but I'm an airtime freak. I don't think Arrows are all that rough once you learn to ride them. If you know how to position your head going into the inversions, it can be quite smooth. I learned this on the Steel Phantom and apply it all other Arrow coasters with inversions.

Magnum is not that rough, I know it had a very bad problem last year. Usually its a very smooth ride. I like the Camel back on Corkscrew. Demon at PGA is very smooth, shocked me. I think the worse arrow would have to be Corkscrew, nothing wrong with it though

Best Coaster: Millennium Force
Worst Coaster: Project Stealth
Viper aint a bad ride when it is taken care of. Some days it is my #1 coaster. Other days it drops of the top 20 list because my head got smashed into the head rest a million times. This holds true for every 'rough' coaster. *** This post was edited by Metrock on 2/6/2001. ***
