What is SFGAM doing with the land they purchased?

Here is a pic of the land that they purchased (it looks bad). I would like to point out that they could use this land. They don't need to keep taking things out, they should just build a bridge like SFKK, it works good. Or maybe they could have the parking lot and a waterpark on the other side. 1 is the current location, and 2 is the land they bought a while ago.

What do you guys think?

Well it was supposed to be for a water park, but I think they have to start construction by this Winter if they are going to do it.

I highly doubt they would build a bridge across I-94, but it is possible. I think they are better off moving their junk yard (you can see this behind Iron Wolf), employee parking lot, and other things over there to free up some space.

Deja Vu doesn't have fastlane, but it has a fastlane line.

LOL! A bridge across a little enterance road (like at SFKK) is a whole lot different than a bridge across I-94! If SFGAm does, in fact, own that land and does plan on using it, it would (most likely) be a waterpark with it's own separate ticket booths, parking lot, etc. Let's at least try to be a *little* bit realistic.

Actually, cant one tunnel under the freeway for easy access?

Can you tunnel under a major 6-lane freeway without tearing up the road? I'm sure it can be done, but *why* would SFGAm spend the money to do so? It would be cheaper and, in many ways, more effective to build the entire waterpark (and new parking lot) over there than try to share the current lot, which wouldn't be large enough to handle a new park anyway.

the most popular theory is a hotel and water park with a connecting walkway across I-94. not sure if it would go over or under, but they could probably fit the employee parking and offices over there as well as long as they leave some space in the main park to store construction materials.

There already is a tunnel. It's part of the Washington Ave. tunnel under the tollway. There's a 25 foot wide portion that isn't used by the road.

The plan is for a waterpark, convention center, and employee housing. Not quite sure about the hotel.

I was reading through the board meeting on Gurnee's website awhile back and the plan is for it to be a totally separate entity. The main access would be off of Washington St. with a possible second access across from Gurnee Mills.

SFGAm tried to get the Illinois Tollway to create a separate exit and entrance ramp off of the highway for access to the main park but to no avail. I seriously doubt the Tollway system would entertain the idea of having a bridge or tunnel to connect the properties.

One of the stipulations is that SF must provide funding for expansion of Washington St. if they are to build on this property. At the moment Washington St. in the area where the entrance would be is only a 2-lane road.

I just fished reading the meeting notes. It appears they have received approval to Build Employee Housing, Water Park, and Convention Center, which will be housed inside the hotel. Also, they will build 2 other separate hotels. Also, they plan to Build SF Great American General Offices. They also got Approval for part of that property is used for General Theme Park Usage. Also they will have to provide a bus system that will allow people go to and From SF Great America, SF Water park, convention center and hotels, As well as Gurnee Mills Mall and other area attractions.

I believe that this is room to expand Washington St into a 4 or 6 lane divided road (like it is east of Milwaukee Ave).

The Lake Country road system is, in general, pretty pathetic. Trying to get around there between 4 and 7pm on a weeknight is just horrendous. I can understand that the residents near the park are apprehensive.

Isnt there some kind of water park not owned by six flags directly across from the main entrance with the sign? Over behind burger king and stuff i thought that there was some kind of watery thing.
If there is any type of water park over their it is private property for Pembrook(neighborhood behind Burger King).
