What is SFDL getting in 2002?

What is SFDL getting in 2002? I want them to get some kind of freefall ride and a dueling woodie or B&M stand up or both.
I can see them getting something big because this year they got nothing. Even though they have no competition as some people say, I think it will be a big year.

Jack, who can't wait for opening day 2001...
They deserve something huge. They've waited with nothing long enough. It's a nice park and Six Flags should put more TLC into it

My Prediction??

A WHOLE lot more than they got for the 2001 season, I tell ya that much!!

-IF anything, it will be a new coaster (or 2) unlike what they currently have. I heard somewhere that the owners or park director does not like Stand-Ups and therefore, there would never be one located at Darien Lake.

Either way, I would best HOPE for a coaster that sits 4-across. Either a floorless, flying, or 4th dimention. I don't see them trying to mimic SFWoA too closely, though. Who knows, maybe they might get that long rumored woodie!
Their will never be a stand-up.. ever :)

As for anything else, its too far ahead to make any "exact" predictions based on facts on what we arwe getting, but I am hoping it will be a big year. Only problem I have is SFWoA, Ithink they will try to make that a major park now and end up "botching" SFDL in the process...

I have shared my opinion previously that I agree with many that SFDL has been getting the shaft along with other neglected SFers. Unfortunately I don't think there will be any major additions in 2002 either. SFDL has too good of numbers as far as attendance and money coming in that it isn't as neccessary to have a big draw to bring more people in. Not to mention that there isn't a major competitor (yet!) that is that close to make a big difference.
I dont get it. The park gets SROS and people want more? I mean, be happy with what you have. :)-------------
-I see stars because I just rode Flashback, can you see them to?
I doubt much, I was hoping they might sell it, but to who? We are too close to SFO for SF to consider heavy captial improvements. Because if they did the two parks would be competing against eachother

Since they are close to Wonderland, they need to shy away from anything that they have. For starters, they need an S&S tower ride, followed by a twisting GCI.

They also need another very unique ride like an impulse, Arrow launched, 4d, or B&M dive.
I think in the near future, sfdl will get an expansion on their water park. Why?? Well, first off i have heard that plans for a water park expansion were submitted to the town board(but not for 2001). Also, new water attractions are appearing near the area. (Sea breeze is getting a new wave pool and an all new water park will be opening in canadaigua called roseland waterpark.) SFDL needs and expansion to their water park anyway.
Besides the water park i also hope that maybe and s+s tower of mass porportions is built. I love those rides!!! Hmm...for coasters..i don't think sfdl would get a fourth dimension in the near future. The just got superman a couple years ago (208 ft.) and it seems like fourth dimensions are going to be pretty tall rides. A b+m dive machine would be cool. (or maybe the new flying coaster that b+m is rumored to be coming out with). Also, i think a tilt coaster would be cool but the thing is is that a tilt would also probably be a pretty tall ride. A GCI racing dueling would be a very nice addition. it would be one of only two in the world and it would be a completly unique thing at a six flags park. (maybe it could be batman vs joaker or something themed like that). Also, i think they need some new flat rides and what happened to the rumored chute the chutes ride???
One last thing. I think that the neglection of this park is horrible. They are the second largest sf park acre wise with over 700 acres. Also, their the only sf park with camping grounds and a hotel!! One hint i think though that sfdl could have a large year in 2002 is that they are getting campground improvements and an online reservation system. Maybe a large expansion will happen in 2002 which would be the reason why the park wants extra camping space. Just an idea. BYE
Actually, the so called family campground is not a new space at all...

SFDL, has long been neglected, along with great escape. These are both great parks with great potential. SFDL has the worst roller coasters, except for superman. All the other coasters are short and boring and are standards for SF parks. Althought Superman is a SF standard its fast and intense. SFDL needs to update their flat rides along with their coasters and leave the water park as it is. I din't visit SFDl last year and because they have no new attractions this year, i won't visit them again this year. Cedar Point and PCW, here I come.
If Six Flags Darien Lake wants to improve drastically (and believe me, they really really need it!), they need the following to happen:

-- Much more green space and less black-top.

After viewing many overhead photos of the park from all angles on the Giant Wheel, it is clear that they just plop down rides & attractions in the middle of black top w/out any green space. Need an example? The carousel. It just sits there surrounded by old cracked black top. They can easily demolish half of that, make the walk-ways a little more distinct, and put in flower beds & small trees not unlike how Cedar Point has their own carousel setup!

-- More themeing!
Come on... this kind of relates to the first one where there's just not enough green space. If there was a little more, then it wouldn't seem so much like the rides are squashed together. The rides could use a few more trees, flowers, & grass so it doesn't feel so much like a big carnival!

-- More flat rides.
I'll take a year of a few flat rides vs. a single coaster if they can get some quality rides there. Such rides as Huss's Frisbee & Shot N Drop, or even Zamperla's Wind Shear... those are original.

-- More space.
Come on, SFDL has nearly 1/3rd of it's land undeveloped, & 3/4 of their developed land is for campgrounds. Some of the trailer camping area behind The Twister & the Go-Karts can be removed or re-located to make room for park expansion. They are trying to cram everything into their current area which is small & just making it tighter & uglier.

-- Original & more coasters.
Sure, Predator is original. Viper is technically original, but their others are clones & that makes for an unoriginal experience for thrill seekers. We need some original coasters to attract people from out of state!
As for more... well, do the math... other Six Flags parks averag
On a side note... underlining doesn't seem to be an option when posting here! :)
After visiting the park for the first time last year, my observations.....

Great selection of flat rides. Personally I think SFDL has the largest collection of flats I have seen in a park in a long time (outside CP). It wouldn't hurt to add a few more.

Don't take my word for it but I can can see a new freefall in the near future as well as a B&M of some sort. Forget the floorless as SFWOA already has that. SFDL should get a Kumba or Wildfire style looper from them.

I agree with the black top comment. Nothing like walking on a hot asphalt midway to make one miserable. Add some cobblestone and gardens/trees. Actually, as far as themes, majority of the architecture used in the park takes on a "country" look so I think the park is one big theme instead of individual themes. I like it as it is.

Make the Twister area by Darien Square fit more with the park instead of out by itself. Not an easy area to negotiate if you are not familiar with the park.

Scott0610 mentioned that their coasters, except Superman, were boring. Sure Boomerang and Mind Eraser are pretty much cookie cutters, but I thought Predator was a great coaster after two front seat rides and that Viper was a gem of an Arrow looper.

For some reason the park is calling me back there this summer.

They're getting a standup-inverted giga coaster with a vertical launched drop and 15 inversions ;). That's my prediction.
Since they most likely don't want to mimic SFWoA, it probably won't be a flying coaster. If they do get a flying coaster, it probabl won't be a clone.
I'm hoping they get a woodie since I will be going there next summer. They need a new coaster because they don't have that many. It's a great park with a lot of potential. But for the potential to take place, they need new COASTERS!
