What is in the future for Lake Compounce?

No, those cars are long gone. These are new electric versions (Chance/Morgan, I think) similar to Dollywood and Michigan's Adventure. Kennywood's old Turnpike cars were gas powered Arrow models.
There are several reasons why the electric cars are preferred by the parks. One is the control situation. Riders would sometimes stop or slow down the old gas cars creating bottlenecks or causing collisions to occur. The electric cars travel at a constant speed preventing this. Another factor was staffing. KW used to use 10 or more people to operate their ride because an operator had to stop each car individually at the end of the ride. Even a big coaster doesn't require this many. Then there was a matter of making the ride more family friendly. Small children can drive the electric cars as long as they have a grown-up with them. This was not possible with the gas cars.

Why are these being called "Antique Cars"? They are scaled down versions of 60's Roadsters and should not be thought of "antique".

God!

Anyway, with that said, I'll bet these "roadsters" will play music like their siblings. (unless they quit playing music in both the MIA and Dollywood versions)

Hey, I agree with you john peck! "Classic" style cars, maybe, but antique??? No way! I remember when those types of cars were plentiful on the highway!!!

(I hate getting older!!!)

Another near term addition to LC could be some new kiddie rides. The management has been looking at such rides at trade shows and this would be another welcome and needed addition since the park's kiddie area is quite small compared to many other parks of similar size.

Much of the interest is in rides designed for small children but where an adult can ride with them. This is clearly part of LC's plan to uphold its family image even as it continues to add more thrill rides.

No fumes? What's the fun in that? :)
Some of my fondest childhood memories of amusement parks are the noise of the those old gas engines and smelling the fumes! I can see the advantages of the electric cars but the constant speed feature takes away some of that "drive it yourself" feeling that I as a kid got a real kick out of.
I think that type of ride is generally referred to as "antique cars" even though, in this case, the cars are far from antique.

Interesting situation with the trolley. I really hope the park decides to renew the lease because that trolley gives that whole area of the park a nice ambiance. I can see a few more rides being added down there and the trolley will only become more useful over time so I think it's in the park's best interest to maintain that attraction.

And don't get on Chuck's case- I know what it's like for a local park to remove a popular classic attraction and I don't blame him for still being pissed. There was no good reason to remove that ride.

Paramount removed the flyers so Cedar Fair wouldn't have to ;)
True.

So do any Paramount parks include any classic attractions? You know... rides we should ride now before they get tossed into a pile in the back of the park?

Um...there were some classic kiddy rides at Kings Island but I think they're gone already as they weren't "Nickelodeon friendly." Not that somebody as freakishly huge as you could fit on them anyway.
