What improvements would you make to your favorite

After riding a coaster, do you ever think of a way the ride could have been made better? After a coaster has lost it's newness,do you think a park should continue to make improvements on the ride?

I don't get that analytical about the ride.

And what do you expect to do to re-engineer a $15 million ride? Add to it? For what purpose? It certainly wouldn't generate any more revenue.

No, it wouldnt generate revenue in the short term but it would in the long term. If I could change one thing (remember I dont ride coasters, im just responding to complaints) I would take a look at the Orient Express. Its a classic roller coaster, thats in bad need of some reconstructive surgery. It could stand to have new cars and have its track regauged. Basically its really rough. And I might not be making a difference but I have to say it anyway. You couldnt market that difference if they made it to the express, but it could give visitors a better experience at the park and make them more likely to come back and.... spend MORE MONEY! Its indirect, its not ROI and it makes good business sense. For an example look at Holiday World... They are giving out free soft drinks WHOA! now there is an idea.

Just like my think on the express Where is the ROI in that? There isnt any point, they should be LOOSING money according to your equation Jeff. However there not, people are having better experiences at the park, its good PR, its the same thing as making a change to a ride, its sort of marketable but not really... And I am sure it makes the park money.
Now if you have not ceased reading, my point (and I do have a point) is that some cosmetic improvements to rides, are good things. They dont make money directly but they give the visitor a better experience. Hence what I said above...
Please dont close this post because it makes no sense to you...

Well, we're going to see if a major redesign of a steel coaster is worth it this year with Phantom's Revenge. Personally, I think it'll be a good move. It's worked once with wood...

Yeah, I think Phantoms Revenge is going to be the measuring stick to see if a rehabbed ride will have success or not. If it does succeed, then I expect other parks to follow suit with not so pleasant coasters.

I tend to think of improvements to wood coasters like changing the trains from Morgans to PTCs, changing the restraints from ratcheting lapbars to flip down style, and removing seat dividers and headrests.

I kinda wish BKF at SFO would have a Zero-G roll after the cobra roll but i love how it is now with out it.

It's funny that you mention Phantom's Revenge. A little bird told me after an event in a certain southern city that if the Revenge project works out, Morgan might just find some business in Virginia.

I've heard that speculation, too. Thing is, though, that the "certain coaster" is a bit more inversion-oriented. With Steel Phantom, there was a healthy chunk of ride leading up to the loops. On the Virginian coaster, though, if you took off the inversions, you don't even have a "hypercoaster." Besides, the park already has a great non-looping monster, so one has to wonder if they'd really opt for a sub-200' non looping coaster... And, as far as I know, Morgan isn't in the inversions game. Not yet, anyway.

Gee, could we see the rebirth of Drachens Revenge?

I have heard the Drachen Fire speculation also. I think Morgan will do the same thing with it that they are doing at KW. I also think that's why this coaster is no longer for sale. There is no way BGW would let Drachen Fire go, especially since it has become a "legend" in its own time. It's popularity has really come into play since it has been closed. We will just wait and see, but my feeling is that someone, probably Morgan, will raise the Drachen again!
I would take the brake off the 3rd hill of Raging Bull.

Get wrapped in the coils of Viper at SFGAm.

Psyclone @ MM needs a large improvement w/ a lighter and kerosene.

Had to be said!;)

I'm 2 for 2 so far!!!
I'd put a good head chopper tunnel at the bottom of Millennium Force's drop. That would be cool.

My favorite ride S:ROS at SFA is almost perfect. Maybe if they tunnled that stretch of straight track after the helix, that would be great, coming right out of that tunnel and being zipped over that 3rd hill.
