What happened to the Edge at SFGA??

I know what the Edge was at SFGA,, wasnt it like the Demon Drop at Cedar Point or something like that? well, I never got to ride it,, but what happened with the ride?? I have heard from tons of people, growing up,, that the brakes failed or something like that, and it went off the track? and hurt people,,, is that what happened?? Cause when the Giant Drop came out, my family thought I was crazy for riding it, cause they all have worked there when they were kids and knew about all the problems..

AMERICAN EAGLE!! (RED TRAIN)BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And actually,, more rides!, Like those cages that go around the park?? I heard it was soo windy one day that the fire department had to come and get everyone down cause they were stuck on those wires.. in the air,, There are soo many pictures I have seen from the 70's, really wierd,, the Demon drop was not as steep and the Sky Trek cabin was soo cool looking. Wonder why it changed?

The Edge (as you heard, along with me) was moved to SFoG because it's brakes failed. Can't make a profit on a ride no one wants to ride because they heard people got hurt (I think some got killed)!
The Edge was an Intamin 1st generation free fall ride. They had a lot of matainence problems. The Giant Drop is a 2nd (I think) generation free fall ride from Intamin. They are much safer. As far as I know, there hasn't been a single accidend (well, I don't know for sure, but I think one in California had a freak accident. Not sure about it.)

THERE WAS NEVER A DEATH on the Edge. Do not start rumors like that if you do not know the facts.
Here is a link on Coasterbuzz about this topic, we only talked about it a little over a month ago.

Backing up SFGA_FANs topic, there was never a death on the Edge, along with never being a death in Great Americas history. The skyrides at Great America were removed due to overall windy conditions. It wasnt worth it to keep these rides running because they would have to close when certain wind conditions got to extreme. They had a one way trip skyride along with a mandatory roundtrip skyride when Marriott owned the park.

They had an accident in which a small piece of brake fin broke off in a brake (between sensors). When the next car reached the brake that was still clenching the small piece of fin, it stopped abruptly...sending four people to the hospital. Nobody died though.
